For those of you concerned about height

I keep hearing from many MTFs who wish they were shorter, but then everyone's response is that there are many tall women who have no trouble being seen as women.  I know this is tru, because I have worn some footwear that has placed me at 6 feet, where I towered above most other women and nobody seemed to give me a second glance.  It's actually kind of a confidence builder when that happens.  Anyway, I found this article related to tall people getting paid more and thought it might help the taller women feel more proud of their height.  Sorry FTMs.

Economists have known for a long time that it pays to be tall. Multiple studies have found that an extra inch of height can be worth an extra $1,000 a year or so in wages, after controlling for education and experience. If you're 6 feet tall, you probably earn about $6,000 more than the equally qualified 5-foot-6-inch shrimp down the hall.

That makes height as important as race or gender as a determinant of wages. And it works for women as well as men. Even among female identical twins (whose heights can differ more than you might expect), the taller sister earns, on average, substantially more than the shorter.

Well I'm 5' 8", and today I'm wearing 4" heals at work so that makes me 5' 12"  :D  Wait a second let me recalc that....

5' 8" = 68"
        + 4"
        = 72"
         / 12
        = 6'

Sorry for the wait... so that makes me a tall one huh - hasn't affected me any :)

5'11" here.  And I like wearing clunky heeled shoes.  :)  So I do tend to stand out between that and the blond hair.  I routinely see teenage girls who are almost as tall as I am and taller.  Those who have admitted an attraction to me usually list my height as one of the reasons.

Valkyrur rule!

You're welcome.  Actually, I was thinking of you Kate when I posted this.  I remember you being so concerned about height.

My height doesn't bother me in so much as my chest cavity. I have a barrel chest and wide shoulders. Now, I have reduced the shoulders a bit but the chest is still large.

I'm 5'11'' My height has always been a concern.  Whenever I see a female in public who is tall the first thing I do is look at her shoes.  Often she's wearing high heels or boots and she's shorter than me <sigh> but I have on several occasions come across GG's who were taller than me and YES!!!! they were wearing flat shoes.  I guess being "tall" has turned me into a shoe watcher....or maybe I'm just wierd. LOL

I do have a TS friend who is 6'2'' or 6'3"...she pulls it off nicely.....she uses her femininaty to offset any suspician of height.

Still.....I wish I was a little shorter LOL.

Bingo!  That's exactly what you do.

Just before I had my surgery, I was working at a little hole in the wall company (the perfect place to hide by the way).  There was a woman who couldn't reach 5' in heels.  I generally wore heels back then with a business suit.  She would always comment on my height.

One day she told me: "Cindi, you are soooo tall!"  I respondied with "Sheryl, you are soooo short!"  She never said anything about it again to me.

I am 5' 11" and I have never been concerned about my height.  There are other things like my fat head, short neck, broad shoulders and chest that I don't like.  But even those things don't seem to be a big problem, they're just things that bug me.

I just got back from town.  I had to go get a blood test.  I've been working, and I was wearing my crappy shop clothes; steel toed work shoes, jeans, and an astro tee.  I'll never know why I pass in this garb.  But I seem to get by somehow.

LOL, the grass really is always greener...

Much of my height IS my neck. Kids used to call me "ostrich" in school. I always wished it would shrink...

Long necks are considered beautiful in some cultures.  Me?  I have a long neck too (as you can tell from my picture), but everything is proportional so it all balances out.

Kate, my female role models have always had long necks.  It is a very feminine feature. Audrey Hepburn.  Such an angel she was.  You have a neck such as she.  It is truly a stunning feature.

Ah man.  I gotta get some platforms :P  Good thing I work online, nobody will see how short I am.

Hey, I've got nothing against being short.  Diversity makes life interesting.  Brick is shorter than I am.  And he's losing his hair.  I still love him ;)

Melissa,

Thanks for solving one obstical for me!

Now I have always found food a comfort when I get upset.  Female hormores and my appetite are not a good combination for me.  I think I'll change my nickname to Andress The Giant!
