The DSM-V is not yet out. The controversy over the paraphilias and the expanded definition of mental disorders has not yet been resolved. The DSM-V happens to the runaway blockbuster best seller of the American Psychological Association.

The question of whether or not the APA will recognize asexuality as a valid sexual orientation cannot be answered yet. The core of the debate, according to the New Scientist is how broadly the committees working on the book plan to expand the definition of a mental illness.
