I just had a physical yesterday and I'm shrinking? When I enlisted into the Air Force in 1968 I was 6 foot tall. I'm now just under 5'10" by almost a quarter of an inch. Thats over 2 inches that I have shrunk. That means I have to lose more weight cause I'm shorter. I just can't win. LOL Well, anyway the height doesn't bother me anyways. I get looked at and sometimes figured out, but I don't care just as long as they say Ma'am.

Well, when I was in highschool, I was 5'9 3/4" tall, which I always just rounded up to 5'10".  Prior to HRT, I measured at 5'9 1/2".  Well, now I'm 5'9".  I had heard about losing height due to HRT and I thought that was cool.  You also lose height due to age as well.  I know my dad has lost an inch from what he used to be.  So I think it's really a combination of the 2, but the transsexual seems to lose the height much more quickly.

1999: DMV and EPPC  I was measured by both institutions at 6ft 2 barefoot......
2006: DMV and EPPC  Im currently measured at 6ft even and 5ft 11 respectively....

Reguardless how you look at it Im tall for a woman.... especialy so in a town where the avrage man is like 5ft 7 or 8 and avrage woman is like 5ft 3...........

I dont mind though... makes it easyer to spot friends when Im lost in a crowd

Your DMV measures you?  With mine, you just tell them your height and they enter it into the system.  My DL currently shows the correct height.

They make you stand against a wall and then subtract the heel of your shoe or boot...

It's because you look like a GG. ;)

Same here. I just put 6'1" on the form and nobody said anything. I used to say 6'2" but don't know which is more accurate. Last I tried to measure my own height I got 6' even with a big huge margin of error... :P

Here's another good resource to help you feel more comfortable with your height.  It's a list of the world's tallest women starting from 5'10".

And I'm only 5'9".  Boy that makes me feel better. ;D

Neat! Somehow, being in the same league as Maria Sharapova doesn't seem so bad! ;)

See Kate, it's all in your head!  ::)  We might as well have these pretty heads up there where we see what's going on.  Actually, I never thought of tennis players being particularly tall, but several of them are.  With all the scurrying around the court, I visualized some perky dinker.  Oh well, ... now I know.  Thanks, Melissa.

No problem.  Sometimes we need a little change of perspective to help us accept ourselves.  So rather than looking at height as an obstacle, we can see it as an advantage.  I guess that's just the optimist in me.

Wow, you know what I don't feel so bad being in between Julia Child and Terry Farrell. :D Thanks for posting that!

I am 6' and I love heels - 3" are perfect for me except it just makes me tower above most everyone. It gives new meaning to "stealth" or an attempt at that. Self confidence is much easier in flats tho - LOL  ;-)
