As far as I know, there isn't any effective way to do this without testosterone... unless a vocal coach is holding something from us.

well you can add resonance to it which helps.. what the guys here described as speaking from your stomach.

that actually helps alot. My voice is what used to "give me away" but now that I trained myself to speak fom my stomach and breath from my diaphragm I go to school and talk to bio guys and pass 100% of the time.

Well if not deeper, than at least a bit rougher - you do it like the old blues and young rock and roll singers do it, with cigarettes and whiskey.

My voice is part of what gives me away too.  And it's not real high or girly.  :-\  I got a m'am today at the checkout counter...after I spoke.  Can't wait to go on T.

Trying to talk from your stomach helps. I am currently trying to train myself to do so. Its easy in short convo but in longer ones its hard. I can say the first thing you can try to do is slow down your speech. I know with most when you start talking quick your voice pitch gets higher.

Any tips on how to do this? Something you read online, a YouTube video, anything like that?

I am not sure how I do it actually. But when you do it you can feel the speech coming from your stomach. When I started trying I would sit down. It seemed like I could do it better and feel it more if I was sitting. The biggest tip I can give you is to slow your speech down. Do no get overly excited while talking.

I don't know if this will help. . . but if I want to make my guy voice sound deeper I just try to talk lower in my throat and speak from my chestish area.

I'm probably not much help since I've been practicing the other way haha but maybe it will give you ideas.

well, my girlfriend is a singer as is my sister and all of their friends so I had plenty of experience with the lecture of breathe from your diaphragm. I didn't read anything online but I didn't really look.

I started with breathing REALLY deep without a binder and concentrating on sucking the air all the way down into the bottom of your lungs and making sure your stomach moves in and out when you breathe instead of your chest. (this also decreases the attention to the moobs when breathing in public which most of us have to do) and then practice with a binder. It hurts for awhile until you are used to actually filling your lungs up that much. Pretty much do that until you are used to just breathing and don't have to concentrate anymore. And THEN start talking, just a bit at first(I practiced in my room) and then having short conversations with people saying thank you at restaurants and such and then eventually you will talk like that all the time.

Clearing your throat alot helps rough up your voice and bio guys actually do it alot anyways. Speak pretty much in a monotone and pay attention and try to eliminate any pitch changes when you change emotions. Remember change VOLUME not PITCH.

Would that actually work? Lol. Maybe I should rethink quitting smoking. xD

Lol, I'm not so sure it'd be worth it, though. If I smoked, I'd rather wait for T. All the FTMs I've heard from so far that used smoking to get their voices rougher or deeper regret it.

you can search some exercises on youtube. one of them makes you tilt your head up while dragging out some syllables and it's supposed to temporarily lower your voice.
