I have always had some chest hair, but since starting T, I have had a dramatic increase even early on.  While I happen to like the fact that I am growing chest hair since it will hide my surgery scars, I seem to be getting MASSIVE AMOUNTS of ingrown hairs on my moobs and they cause quite a bit of discomfort. 
They tend to appear in the on each moob on the tops and the sides that face the middle of my chest.  Any other guys here have this problem and some advice on how to stop the proliferation of these ingrown hairs?

Gah I hate ingrown hairs. Best thing to do is get a pair of tweezers and pull the hair so that it's no longer under the skin. But don't completely pluck it! It will just become ingrown when it grows back.

Exfoliate. That will make a big difference. You can get these rough exfoliating gloves which are ace. Something with a bit more grunt than typical face exfoliators. I think in time you won't have many more, once they break the surface new hairs should just follow the same path.

You could also look into a product like Tendskin. Awsome stuff, I highly recomend it. Used to use it on my face as the laser was causing heaps of ingrowns. Also use it on my legs occasionally as waxing was causing ingrowns. I found it really works. http://www.tendskin.com/tendskin.htm

Curly hair. Great on your head, sucks on your body. Exfoliating has worked for me in the past, but honestly I just gave up on manscaping. Trimming is easier, and can't give you razor burn/ingrown hairs.

Thank you all so much for your responses.   I have been using tweezers but with so many, it just takes a really long time.  I am definitely going to give exfoliating a try.  Hopefully Bath and Body Works will have those gloves Nicky mentioned, since my mother has lots of coupons for that place.

@ Evan:  Yes, I usually use clippers with the #4 guard.  I shaved it for a lark during the holidays after one too many drinks.  Horrible idea!  I probably shall not do it again until top surgery and only if my surgeon asks me to. 

I'm pretty sure that, once the hair get growing more, the problems will disappear and you'll be left with a thick mat of curly hair.

just wanted to add.. you can exfoliate just using simple white sugar.. get the sugar wet with a bit of water and scrub it on.

I pluck them out. I too have a lot of body hair and once I have my hysto I will prob be bear like!

There are also lotions that are specifically made for preventing/healing ingrown hairs.  I've heard good things about Anthony Logistics Ingrown Hair Treatment.  It's a bit pricey, but I'm told it lasts a long time and is very effective.  There is also a cream called Bump Stopper II that I've had good results with.  They used to carry it at Target, but they recently discontinued it, at least in my area.  They might have it in more ethnically diverse areas than where I live, since it's targeted primarily at the African American market.

I have a question if anyone can help. I believe I have an ingrown hair on my neck (or a cyst). I've looked and I can't seem to see any hair to grab a hold of. Any methods if you can't see the hair?

If you have a cyst, then it really needs to be attended to by a professional using sterile methods.

But a cyst is pretty obvious.

If you are on any hormone treatment, it is more likely some acne.

That's the thing- I don't know if it's a cyst or not. It looks and acts alot like an ingrown hair because I had one once. I know it was an ingrown hair because the doctor looked at it and confirmed it. We just left it alone and it went away. I'm pretty sure this isn't a zit because it doesn't look, feel or act like one.

If the Dr says to leave it alone, the that is probably the best thing to do.

If it's bothering you, can you get hydrocortisone cream over the counter where you live?

2% should be adequate. That'll clear up any inflamation. But not recommended for acne or open wounds.

If you can't get hydrocortisone, your could try some antiseptic cream with an analgesic included. Again, if it avalable over the counter.

I'm not sure.  I rarely go into high-end stores.  In any case, barring a convenient clearance sale, you'll probably find the best price on line.  I know they carry it at Details for Men, and that they are a reputable on-line store.  I don't know if their price ($26.50) is the best around, though.  I believe you can get it at Amazon, as well.

Edit:  I just looked at the Anthony website.  Apparently their products are available at Nordstroms, among other places.

noxdraconis, lol you're lucking that's only what you shaved. With some liquid incentive I thought shaving my head would be a brilliant idea... 5 months later I finally have hair.

a liquidy paste made of sugar and lemon juice is GREAT for the skin. exfoliates and tones, and helps dry skin. i use it on my face maybe once a month and it really rejuvenates it 

Thanks again guys.  The exfoliating really works.  Definitely seeing an improvement.
