When do you take testosterone? Everyday? Every week? Every month?

LordKAT

varies, if gel or cream, then daily,, if injection, every week or 2 or inbetween.

Slow release testosterone for me and its a shot every 10-12 weeks, after a loading dose where its 6 weeks between the first two...
But it varies for everyone dude.

Have you noticed any hormone level fluctuations (a 'high' right after the shot or, at the end of the shot cycle, irritability and just generally feeling 'off'...) with the slow release T?

Would you lot mind adding your mg dosage to these posts, and hell just for the fun of it, needle size (drawing and injecting?)

I'm pretty sure exact dosage posts are against the rules

Yeah, we're not allowed to give out dosage. Safety issues with people trying to do it themselves.

Rule 8:

The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:

A. Advocating for or against a specific medication or combinations of medications for personal gain is strictly prohibited.
B. Discussing the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription, and self medication without a doctors care is prohibited.
C. Discussing dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.

We can not in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

Thanks for a rule update. I totally forgot about that one.

Anyways I inject every 2 weeks.

I inject every two weeks.  I wish I injected every week or every 10 days though.  Even though that would mean more shots (never had a problem self-injecting), I doubt I'd be as cranky the last couple days before my next one.

I will know more after this cycle. I had a shot, then was supposed to get the loading dose in 6 weeks - but I had emergency back surgery and the doc was cautious about giving me the next shot  :-\ He said to wait a couple of weeks at least til I was feeling better.

So I ended up waiting like 8 weeks - not a big difference I know, but by the end of that last week I was moody, tired, irritable and a right pr!@k so yeah I noticed a difference then! It was like I used to feel on E... My levels dropped down below 7 and they want me at 12 - which caused a visit from the evil red sister, which I was most unhappy with. So I had bloods then gave myself the next shot.

So I am due for the 3rd in about 4 weeks, I will let you know how I feel towards that time if you want? But I don't really notice a high or anything after a shot, not yet that I have noticed. Just frikkin pain at the site and achy coz its a HUGE injection! I am unsure of how fast or slow my changes are coming in - because so many guys are on different doses and everyone is different - it is hard to guage, but I think they're coming in at a steady rate.

Do you guys have the slow release stuff in the States? Sorry I'm not really helpful answering your question Eryk - but hope to know more at the end of this cycle.

@ Aussie Jay:

Nope, we don't have the slow-release stuff in the States.  Last I heard, the FDA was in the process of evaluating Nebido (is that what you're on?) for release in the U.S.  For right now, we're stuck with the old-school weekly/bi-weekly injections of T ethanate or cypionate.  I was just curious how the slow-release stuff worked with regards to hormone fluctuations.

I was hoping to go on T pellets eventually, since they require replacement only 4 times a year, compared to weekly injections.  However, putting the pellets in pretty much requires a minor surgery under local anesthetic; a 4x/year injection would be a lot simpler.  Hopefully the U.S. will approve Nebido; in the meantime, I'm just wondering how stable hormone levels are with slow-acting T.  If you can shoot me a PM or just reply to this topic when you're at the end of this shot cycle and let me know how you're feeling, that would be good.  That sucks that the red death came back & you got irritable again; that's mainly what I worry about.  I hate fluctuating hormone levels (currently on a reduced T dosage due to some problems) and it's kinda driving me nuts.  Hot flashes and I'm irritable like I used to be before starting T.  Kinda just waiting for the red death to start up again *grumblegrumblehystosoon?*

One more thing: how long does it take for the soreness to subside from the larger injection?  The soreness from my smaller weekly shot typically lasts 1-3 days.  Thanks for the info.

No worries Eryk – happy to help and learn how it is for you.

I am on Reandron as it is called here but far as I have found it is Nibedo everywhere else – trust us to be different! I had a friend, a cis male who had to have the pellets – he thought they were great, but as you say it's slightly invasive every time they are placed.

The recommended dose for my T is 1 shot every 10-12 weeks but at the moment my GP has told me to do it every 6 weeks – I guess until my body can keep a more steady level of T and will just have to keep an eye on it – and my cholesterol and my LFTs ::)

It usually takes about 3-5 days for the soreness to go after the shot. It's not excruciating the whole time – more uncomfortable and it doesn't stop me from doing anything. Kind of like a corky/dead leg I guess – but up in your glute! I'll definitely message you when I'm at the end of this cycle – I myself will be interested to see how I feel.

It sucks you have had your dose altered and are experiencing flushes and are irritable. I know what you mean about the hysto. I have no desire to keep any of that stuff down there – it's just a liability for me as I won't have the necessary medical checks. That is one of my next steps – but at the same time I want top surgery too. I am a big chested guy and I live in a tropical climate – needless to say binding is a royal pain in my butt. Just can't decide on a) a surgeon here or over there or where?? And b) which do I want more?? Argh!!

I know what you mean. For several reasons my T dosage was cut way down and I feel so out of it. I'm also scared the red tide will come back. *sigh* I can't wait to get back to my normal dosage. I forgot how much it sucked without a good dose of T in me. :-\

When I first started I was every 2 weeks, but noticed BAD mood swings the last couple days in the cycle, along with lethargy and just feeling tired all the time. So now I'm on half the dose but doing it every week.

Also, not sure if anyone can answer this due to the rules...I know that going completely off T can make changes reverse, but what about just reducing the doseage? I ran into some money issues and have to wait for my tax return til I get my refill (the joys of being uninsured)--not sure what would be worse, just not having it all for 3 weeks or making what little I do have last by stretching it out.
