For the good of the community...
The two people I'm already out to at work have been reporting to me that they are being asked about me. For instance, one of the airmen was asking a computer administrator, "What's up with *******?" He pointed out I'd been seen hanging out with the TG lady who retired in January, and now I'm growng my hair out, have both ears pierced and have taken to wearing brightly colored shirts from time to time...
So, I formulated a plan--
I've asked anyone I'm out to to tell anyone who asks about me to ask me directly. If I do get asked, I'll use it as an opportunity to do some outreach. Also, I'll charge them with being my eyes and ears, and to tell anybody who asks them about me to ask me directly.
So far, I've had no takers (typical...)
One co-worker (I'll call him Juan to protect his real identity) has been asking the other 9 people our 11-person section about me, and has been told at least 5 times to ask me. I find it kinda' amusing

.
The second-in-command of our civilian 'division', though, did take me up on my offer, and asked what's going on with me. He assured me that it's all about my job performance and what I do beyond the job and how I present myself is of no consequence as long as it's not outrageous and disruptive.
He was worried, though, about the 'potty' arangements

.
That's about where it stands right now. I'll report back more as it occurs...
