Hi, I just registered here today and I'd like to introduce myself. I'm a 54 year old male, living in the north of the uk and married for 34 years to a lovely wife who is unaware that I crossdress.

I would dearly love to share this side of me with her but various opinions she's expressed over the years make me feel that she wouldn't be supportive. The ironic thing is that she's a real fan of Eddie Izzard's (google) I guess it's the Not In My Back Yard thing.

I don't get many opportunities to dress, the occasional night where she has a sleepover at one of her friends, or a long weekend away by myself in the caravan, kinda accepted that this is the way things will be.

I started crossdressing around the age of nine or ten, purged a couple of times but not going to do that again! familiar story eh?

I do get away with shaved legs and tights/leggings in winter (outdoor job) and Nail Envy on my fingernails. I wonder if I'm pushing the boundries though in the subconscious hope of triggering THAT question?

Yes.

And as for Eddie Izzard, it's one thing to appreciate a show and another to live with it, but you sound like you are fully aware of that.  There are many here who aren't that different from you, so jump in where you feel comfortable.  I hope that this forum gives you some outlet and helps you discover what you need to do for yourself.
