Hi again,

Decided I'd pick ya'lls brains again.

Due to financial difficulties, I'm going to have to get a new or second job soon. I'm also seriously considering returning to school for a second bachelors degree (in acting this time...yeah, I'm crazy).

However, I'm conflicted on how to present myself. For a new job I imagine I could go androgynous...that's what I do now, though it limits my employment options. I don't think I could hack it with a shirt and tie, as I sound too female. (unfortunately)

For school, though...I don't know. I keep wondering if I should wait until I manage to get on T, and could easily go for the male roles, or if I should go now and just give it my best shot anyway. Maybe the university has a voice coach who'd tutor me? It'd just prefer to go back to school sooner rather than later, but...*sigh*

Ever have one of those days where life just seems more miserable than normal? Yeah...I'm feelin' it....

Anyway, would appreciate anyone's input/experiences. I honestly have nobody to talk to about anything trans-related, so you guys are my only resource. Group hug?

College is the PERFECT time to transition.  Most colleges are full of open-minded, liberal individuals who are young and love unique perspectives and stuff.  There aren't very many expections of you like there would be in a professional field-- you're free to experiment and look however you want.  If you're not passing, depending on what your job is you might want to present as female at work.  But at school DEFINITELY take the opportunity to be yourself.  I may not come around again.

Ah, do you structure your transition around your life, or your life around your transition?

Transitioning while you're studying is a good option if possible. Apart from the different culture, they also take a little more kindly to you having days off for appointments.

There may also be other advantages to being a student.... depending on your countries healthcare system, of course .

As for work - I think it depends on how long you intend to work there, and if you could tolerate doing so in the wrong gender.
