I'm curious if this applies to us: Digit Ratio

I've heard about this - and I have a ruler this time. Let's see:

Left index: 7.9cm
Left ring: 8.1cm

Right index: 8 cm
Right ring: 8.1 cm

Yep, I'm male alright ^_^ And I have long fingers considering the size of my hands.

I've looked into this before, too.  I'm got a very male ratio, especially in my left hand.   ;D

Left ring-- 9.1 cm
Left index-- 8.5 cm

Right ring-- 9 cm
Right index-- 8.7 cm
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.
If it's alright, then you're all wrong.
Why bounce around to the same damn song?

Can't remember the measurements but I was definitely in the male range as well.

Also am I the only small guy who has no problem fitting in regular men's clothes. I wear small shirts and 29x30 jeans. Maybe it has something to do with my really long arms, big hands...
Call me a cheat but I make my own fate.

Nope. S/M in shirts, 30S in trousers/jeans. My hands aren't that big, I'm only 5'4, but I'm also streamlined (long and thin) ^_^

To break the pattern, my index finger is longer than my ring finger, which contradicts with my gender identity.  It actually pisses me off, because that will never change.  Apparently, athletic straight men and athletic lesbians tend to have longer ring fingers, whereas less athletic gay men/straight women have longer index fingers.  It actually has less to do with sex, and more to do with orientation.  (From what I have seen/heard).  Seeing as we know gender identity is a large spectrum, male-identified people may have either digit ratio depending upon their sexual orientation.  The same goes for female-identified people.

I know gay people who have normal ratio, so it isn't for gays usually

I was extremely athletic until I was hobbled by puberty. I identify as a gay male, though, so I'm not sure where that should put me on the finger spectrum.

That's actually not entirely accurate. Lesbians and tomboys do often have ratios in the male range, but men (even gay men) very rarely have ratios in the female range. It appears that prenatal exposure to high levels of testosterone at any time during the window when finger length is being established will generate a longer ring finger. And it appears that hormones affect a wide variety of brain structures during that window as well, including ones related to orientation, gender identity, and a wide variety of personality traits.

Well, then, I must be a freak.  ;)  My fingers say I'm perfectly female but it couldn't be farther from the truth.  What I mentioned is only hearsay; I had no idea whether or not it held any truth.

I'm going to have to find a ruler...  My fingers are too close in length to tell if one is longer.  Although, I have what people like to call "piano hands."  Long fingers. :P

I'm 5'7" and I wear (or rather, would, if I could find any!!) 28x34 pants.  The ones I have now are 29x32 and are too short, and sizes have changed since I bought them so that 29" jeans are too big for me now...

Mine are about the same length with the index finger being a little longer. You're not the only one, and I'm guessing the people who don't have the ratio that 'matches' aren't as likely to post on this thread.

Well it's hard to tell, they're pretty much the same although if we're measuring from the crease where finger meets hand I get only very slightly longer ring finger. Looks shorter though.

And. . . you want to know what size pants I wear? Or why is everyone telling their pants size? Anyway 30/32 and I am 5'6".

I figured the pants size thing was about leg length to body length ratio (well, maybe it wasn't, but that was what was on my mind).

yah, the measuring is really important because my fingers look about the same but end up being nearly a centimeter in difference when i measure them because of how they're positioned on my hand.

and for anyone whose fingers don't match up to the ratio, I wouldn't feel bad.
I don't think the lacking measure of higher testosterone levels should mean anything in terms of what someone identifies with, only that it would be likely that many of us would have ratios similar to men.

after all, all of us here didn't get enough of the hormone junk we really needed or else we wouldn't be trans in the first place. lol
