Mine is:

Ring: 7.6 cm
Index: 7.2 cm

(These are the long measurements for both hands.  Depending on where I measure from, it can vary by about 2mm less)

Which is interesting.  I swear they look even in length when I look at the back of my hands.

I have nothing to measure with but, my index fingers line up with the top bend on the middle finger and the ring fingers line up with the middle of my nail bed on the middle finger. The ring being longer happens no matter how I turn my hands.

R 1st: 6.5cm
R Ring: 7.6cm

I've heard similar stories about if your 2nd toe is longer than your big toe.  I believe there was an old wives' tale that said if your 2nd toe is longer than your big toe, it means you will be the head of your family.

right index- 8 cm
right ring- 8.8 cm
left index- 8 cm
right ring- 8.8 cm

Yeah, I measured 3 times. I guess I really am ambidextrous. :icon_blink: My left hand (in general) and foot are bigger though which usually shows your dominate side. I did this measurement test awhile ago and I think my fingers have grown longer. That would explain why they feel like growing pains sometimes.

Jamie-o, my family told me the same thing except it would show if you're bossy or not. :D

One possible reason for a masculinized brain in an FTM who wasn't exposed to testosterone in the womb (and therefore has a feminine 2D4D ratio) is that the brain is masculinized via estrogen, not testosterone. Normally estrogen cannot cross the blood-brain barrier, and testosterone can. T crosses over and aromatizes into estrogen, which masculinizes the brain. But this effect can also occur if there is a very high amount of estrogen that overwhelms the alpha-fetoprotein receptors, or perhaps a deficiency in the AFP gene.

fascinating.

Until I came onto this site, I thought all people had longer ring fingers than index fingers. Now I am going to have to check out my sisters and see what they have.

Yeah, I actually do fit the guy hand thing, haha. Then again, I have the frame and figure of a football player naturally. If I remember, I'm supposedly a straight male. *shrugs* On my non-dominant hand the difference is larger... Also, that article said the difference can cause 'masculine handwriting', which has been inescapable all my life, hahaha. I can never fix and make it more legible. (I consider masculine like teenage boy chicken scratch :p)

According to the measurements, sorry for not being clear. I'm mostly gay, though, and I identify as gay.

Ok, now I understand. I don't agree with the measurements meaning anything tho.

I agree, if I remember, it only indicates the androgen to the fetus, or some gobbly goo I barely understand because I'm an idiot. It has nothing to do with orientation. However, longer fingers could obviously cause physical things, such as handwriting.

Yeah, I think that's pushing it too.

Oh hey. I fit the male one. That just made me happy. I have male hands, so I'm told.

So I had a little bit of an identity crisis because I looked at my hands and my index finger looked longer than my ring finger.  (It is pathetic how easy it is to make me feel like crap over things like this).  However, I actually went ahead and measured them and it turns out my ring finger is about a centimeter longer than my index.  Huh.  You can't always rely on appearances.

Those with Scandinavian heritage will have a more pronounced ratio and those with African heritage will have very little difference.

to be exact, Scandinavian men usually have a bit longer index fingers. Oh hey, it was a bad study though, they made them draw their hand on paper and then measured from the drawing, we already proved in here this is wrong because this only takes the appearance into account and ignores that fingers might start higher or lower.

So the research about Scandinavian men usually having more feminine ratio was shown to be flowed, instead, Scandinavian index fingers usually start a bit higher on average on the hand level.

There is a little line/ridge sort of thing at the base of each finger; you're supposed to measure starting from the middle of these lines.  So yeah, appearance isn't always very telling and it seems that their fingers merely appear longer.  (Maybe I'm Scandinavian. ;))
