Regarding UPS and apartments: If you're there, they will deliver it, but you need to sign for it.
.
If you're not there, they will leave a sticker on the front door saying "1st attempt..will be back tomorrow." Some services only get one attempt though.
.
If you can't be there, you need to call the number on the sticker, and input your infonotice number. Then you can tell them to "deliver to alternate address" (for an additional fee) or "pick-up at the UPS hub." Generally, you'll have to pick it up before 6PM, but they'll keep it at the center for a week before they send it back to the sender.
.
Honestly, it's a pain. I hate when people send me stuff UPS. If it's trans related, I avoid sending it to work...and my UPS center is 45 minutes away from where I work...which makes pick-up difficult. I have a UPS center 10 minutes from where I work, but because it isn't the center my address is delivered from, they will only send it there at an additional extra charge.
.
An exception to this is if there is an office manager on duty at the apartment. They will sometimes have the manager sign for packages, and some apartments have a policy where they will put the package inside your door, or you can pick it up at their office.
.
If this isn't the kind of apartment you have...and you can't be there to sign for it...you'll more than likely have to pick it up from the UPS hub.
.
Good luck,
.
