Ah, that's true. We don't have issues like that in the UK. No big database of names or anything.
I had to get my name changed at the job center, but when applying for jobs I can do it under my new details with no one being any the wiser.
And even when changing my name at places like the job center, it's nothing that needs explaining. "I've had a change of name" *Hand Deed Poll* Then they make a copy and no questions asked and it's sorted.

So even with that in mind, there's no reason to outright tell strangers and professionals your personal business.

Right. If you're passing, male name, male pronouns...they don't need to know even if you are pre-T. The only place I can see it as a plus (not in a job center, of course) would be when looking for a job involving the LGBT community.

I've faced enough discrimination else were that I sure as hell want to keep my trans-status...not so out there and obvious.

Well, at least in the U.S. you're legally required (although, some transpeople lie) to check off the female box in job applications if you haven't gotten your birth certificate changed. In some applications it's optional, but in other it's not.

So that would be another reason to inform an employer that you're trans. Sure, some people might not notice the female box, but others will. It'll cause problems pre-t and on T.

I honestly don't see anything wrong with informing an employer that you're trans. It's not like EVERYONE at work has to know or anything. If you're Pre-T and aren't passing very well, then it might be nice to have an employer who is trans friendly and who knows. Cause then they'll be respectful and use the right pronouns and let you use the right bathroom. If you apply to work as a girl, then you have A LOT of explaining to do if you go on T, but if they already know that you're trans, it won't be an issue.

If you're already on T then it's more of a dicey situation. If you want to be completely stealth, then sure you wouldn't want any one to know. It might be necessary in some situations if you haven't gotten your name changed, or if you check the female box and someone notices, or a myriad of other scenarios.

I'd rather work for an employer who is LGBT friendly, and just not have to worry about hiding every thing. That's a personal decision though, and i totally respect people who want to be stealth.  I had a job where the person who hired me knows that i'm trans, and my boss knows that i'm trans, but no one else knew. That worked out pretty well for me. They were both cool with it, and very respectful.
If i made friends with one of my coworkers and i felt comfortable, then i might tell them, but it wasn't like everyone at work knew.

I'm pretty open about being trans, but again, that's a personal decision. It's not really related to work though, so i tend not to tell coworkers unless i'm friends with them. It's just not a big deal to me. Being stealth isn't something that i'm ever interested in doing.

I think he's trolling too.
And I can kinda get it, telling them, I guess, depending on the job and how well you pass.  I think I would tell a new employer at this point, but I would probably say I was trans and leave it at that.

In the US, it is illegal to ask a person's sex when filling an application for employment.

I got a casual job which pays me $40 an hour that they offered me till they can find me a full time job. Great news right. I told them cause I haven't changed any legal docs and I haven't even started T. People shouldn't worry much about what I brag about, if they don't like it they can just ignore it. I think people should be more open about themselves. Watched? Pls get rid of me out of this site already. It's not like I'm abusing or swearing at people and you wanna put me under constant surveillance which is pretty sad just cause some people can't take someone who doesn't think low of themselves.

Alright. Let's make this clear.
This is a support site. If you don't need support and aren't willing to offer support then maybe this isn't the right site for you.
This is not a "lets brag about how awesome we are"-site. If you have nothing but that to offer then maybe this is not the site for you.

Being proud when something good happens is fine, but there's a line between "I'm so happy" and "I'm so awesome".

Also, to the other gents in this thread.
If you don't like someone, you can just ignore their existence, not feed their posts, not comment, not respond, not even read.
Calling troll "is" against the TOS. If you believe he's a troll, then report the trollish posts. Whatever you do, don't feed the troll.
If you don't think he's a troll and just think he's being abraisive, ego-tripping and obnoxious, just block and ignore.
Either way, Refusing to give attention is the correct way to respond.

This thread appears to serve little or no purpose, it's more or less off topic and full of rather unpleasant comments. Thus, this thread is locked pending further moderator actions.
Have a nice day.
