As a primer, this book is not bad:

True Selves: Understanding Transsexualism: For Families, Friends, Coworkers, and Helping Professionals (1996) - Mildred L. Brown * Amazon * WorldCat

This is freely available on the internet:

Mom, I Need To Be a Girl (1998) - Evelyn D. Lindenmuth * Amazon * WorldCat * Online

This is a pamphlet put out by PFLAG:

I've read a lot of those available, but after I read True Selves I ordered ten copies to give to my relatives and some friends.
