The past week I've been feeling like ->-bleeped-<- about how i look. Everytime i looked in the mirror, all i could see was an incredibly butch lesbian... It doesn't help that I was called a "Chick with a Dick" (I'm NOT a chick with a dick. I'm a guy with boobs. Jeez, get it right people) and "->-bleeped-<-" thrice in the past week while shopping for groceries, presents, etc.  But yesterday was actually great. My mum, was in a good mood, and woke me up. She said 'My little girl, my little boy, my kid" Which is an improvement from just girl. I binded with only tape (oh god that hurt) but it was well worth it. Though the moobs really, really, still hurt right now. It was my lil bros b-day, so we went out to eat with my grandparents and uncle. When we got to the resteraunt, i was called "boy" once by the lady, and after that she avoided any pronouns. People rarely use them around me these days. At least i confuse people. Its a good sign. My uncle is freaking awesome. Maybe Its just in my head, but ever since i started acting more like myself, we've had a lot more to talk about, and we can actually hold a conversation for more than two sentences. We're also a bit closer than before. He's gunna bring some of his antique beer bottles, to show me when he visits us next time :D. He's my role model, kinda. He's really cool. And theres a good chance I'm going to be sleeping over at my friends place tommorow. She's awesome, and just found out about me being trans a month ago, but she's fine with it. She calls me dude, but she also uses my birth name. I don't mind cuz she's and "old" friend, she has the right to call me whatever. But i'm going to ask her to try not to use pronouns when talking about me, i don't want to force her to call me "he" yet but i dont want to e aclled she too much either. Maybe i should just be called "It" or "They"? I don't think i'll do that until after i get on hormones for month or two. Right now i don't deserve to be addressed as male yet. In just a few months, i'll be in a new high school... I'm kinda excited and kinda scared. This is a chance to become someone other than "that butch looking deppressed kid". ->-bleeped-<- I'm happy.  ;D

There really should be a "Happy Rant" page somewhere, not just PMS page. I can never decide where to put these  ::)

Glad things are moving forward for you.

Happy rant, I didn't think it was possible.

Happy rant is a first but I'm glad things seem well right now. I personally would be and have been insulted to be called "it". It feels totally dehumanizing.

Maybe we need a Gender Euphoria board.

LordKAT, I've occasionally encountered older British books in which children are referred to as "it." So a mixed group of girls and boys might be referred to this way: "After every child had opened its gift, Uncle Nigel led in a pony, to the delight of all."

Don't know how common this usage was or is, but I wish there weren't such a stigma attached to "it" as a general-use gender-neutral pronoun.
"The hammer is my penis." --Captain Hammer

"When all you have is a hammer . . ." --Anonymous carpenter

I can agree with you Arch, the way it was used around me was an intentional slur and that has colored my feeling on its use. If it weren't used that way, it would not seem so offensive. That can be said of almost any word when you think about it.

@Arch - As a Brit, I don't think i've ever come across 'it' being used to refer to people (other that in a derogatory way). The example you give must be rare and very obsolete!

@aydan - 'They' is clumsy, but may work. Or just plump for 'he' if that's what you want...there's no 'deserving' about it: you are who you are.

...and I like the 'Happy rant'...v cool - glad you're having good times.

I've read sentences such as these, but mainly in early 20th century books, aimed at children. Enid Blighton, I'm pretty sure, used this device.

It is clumsey English. But tended to be done to emphsise a single group. Another point, to say, Every child opened their gifts, tends to suggest that some or all children had more than one gift. Again, to emphasise that each child has been treated equally.

In this context, it was certainly never intended as derogatory.

To the opening post, it is good to read. You mom sounds like a first class chap, eh what! And your Aunt, well, she's a real brick I say.

May I suggest that, for people serving the public, it might be better if you, or someone with you try to find a way to work your gender into their conversation?

These people don't seek to offend, generally. They are just doing their job.

In any case, any positive reaction is to be encouraged, not just for you, but whoever follows you.

I don't know you but this post makes me so happy! I'm so glad you are so brave to be yourself. And you said you're staring a new high school? Man I wish I was myself in high school. Would've been a LOT funner haha. Stay strong and be yourself! =D Life is short so never try to live a lie!
