So I gave blood today. No big deal, I like to donate blood. But today my spirits were lifted when I came home with a message on my answering machine.

"Hi, This is *insert name here* from the Red Cross, I'm calling because we a have a question *insert thick German accent here* gender *more thick accent*. Please call us back when you get the chance."

So I couldn't understand the accent very well, but I could've swore I heard "gender" in there. So I call back.

"So, it's seems that your nurse has made a mistake about your gender when filling things out...You're a man, yes?"

My jaw just dropped. I dunno how I managed with my very obvious female name, high-pitched voice, and no binding with a 40D chest (I usually do but I didn't want to mess with circulation or respiration), but I passed to someone. That makes it twice this week, which is a high score.

Does anyone have any idea how this could've happened, especially since I've given blood before? XD

I guess it was just a stupid story, but I had to share my utter joy somehow.

yay, what was your reply? of course i can't tell what made you pass in that situation. but i booked a bus trip a few weeks back and you had to show your ID with the ticket.....my name was checked on a list and it's VERY female, she was looking for my name on the list and goes "ah, there he is!" *check*, hands back my idea. Now i know i passed look-wise and voice-wise but would have expected my name to tell. But once people have put the gender label on you, your name could be Lily Rose Juliet and you'd still be a guy to them.

these moments when we pass without trying are precious so enjoy them...
I say its because at these times we are subconsciously living as our target sex and that makes us seems so to onlookers.
The contrary is that some CDs and TVs can't pass because the inner person is male.   This theory upsets lots of people.

Well I just kinda sat there for a moment and was like, "Uuuhh...No, I'm female." I figure I shouldn't say male until I get it legally changed...Which is a far ways off, but this makes me happy until then. XD

You know, I think that's really true and makes a lot of sense. When you're more comfortable in yourself, the more you portray your true self.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats, even if it is kinda late. :3

True. Very true.
