Yesterday I gave birth to a 20 oz stent==or at least it seemed. To say that this thing was huge would be an understatement, even the nurse was surprised! She snipped the stiches one by one, the carefully grasped the stent with forceps. It slipped out rather easily and with no discomfort. It was really kind of neat actually. I was scared to look, but she insisted. This thing was absolutely huge! Like a good size pickeral! Dr. Brassard told me I had a lot of space between my organs and he gave me over 5.5 inches. My surgery partner received the same, but she had a considerable amount of pain. I had no pain, just discomfort.
I started dilating yesterday as well and, at first, it was rather daunting. There is so much to learn and you want to make sure everything is done right. Once you get used to a schedule, the maintenance becomes much easier. It is, however, an all day event and eats up all your time.
My catheter was removed today and, after drowning myself in water and orange juice, I urinated. I not only urinate, but I did so in a steady stream! The nurse was very suprised when I told her that.
Over all, my experience here has been excellent! Today I'm very happy and, even with all the maintenance and stuff, I'm having a lot of fun discovering the new me!
