Yesterday I gave birth to a 20 oz stent==or at least it seemed.  To say that this thing was huge would be an understatement, even the nurse was surprised!  She snipped the stiches one by one, the carefully grasped the stent with forceps.  It slipped out rather easily and with no discomfort.  It was really kind of neat actually.  I was scared to look, but she insisted.  This thing was absolutely huge!  Like a good size pickeral!  Dr. Brassard told me I had a lot of space between my organs and he gave me over 5.5 inches.  My surgery partner received the same, but she had a considerable amount of pain.  I had no pain, just discomfort.

I started dilating yesterday as well and, at first, it was rather daunting.  There is so much to learn and you want to make sure everything is done right.  Once you get used to a schedule, the maintenance becomes much easier.  It is, however, an all day event and eats up all your time.

My catheter was removed today and, after drowning myself in water and orange juice, I urinated.  I not only urinate,  but I did so in a steady stream!  The nurse was very suprised when I told her that.

Over all, my experience here has been excellent! Today I'm very happy and, even with all the maintenance and stuff, I'm having a lot of fun discovering the new me!   :)

LOL, glad to see your sense of humor is intact, I hope to have things go as smoothly as you seem to be experiencing. Congratulations!

Hmmm 5.5in Still got a fair little way to go to beat me though... Evidently I had even more internal space - but then as they say size only really matters to those who are insecure! ;D

More seriously glad to hear it all went good. Congratulations and have fun with it!

(or maybe I should say I hope you will both be very happy together!)

Congrats love. the stent is always big make sure to do your dilations pretty close but over 2 hours apart. you dont want to loose depth but youll notice as swelling goes down half an inch or an inch might be gone. They mark your dilators with a black dot but you wont carry that depth all the time.

i told  you us young people feel pain... was Ms. L able to urinate? Can you tell her I said hi please? I wont reveal her name since she doesnt belong here. However, you def know whom im talking about.

As for you, from the moment I saw you post op just minutes out of the room you were a sunshine... i already knew pain would be no issue for you! You glowed with a huge smile... how do you feel since its your first surgery..; would you be scared for other surgeries now? I hope I had a big impact in your experience... your truly a blessed soul hugs xox

Not only that but, I'm also surprised at how much energy the healing process takes.  It's no wonder the way they feed you here--I've been cramming it in since surgery and haven't gained an ounce!

It's actually more than 5.5, but really, I'm happy with that even if it does go down a little! Thanks Jenny!

Thanks Sara!  You truly are an amazing person!  You were an inspiration to all of us here!

Ms. L is still having difficulties.  She's not eating and they haven't removed the catheter yet.  She's moving a bit more but she doesn't eat.  Her swelling is rediculously high too!  I'll tell her you said hi.  :)

Dr. McGinn stented me with gauze packing.  And when it was time to remove it, I felt like she was doing a magic trick!

She must have pulled out a couple of yards of the stuff.  That felt exceedingly odd.  I looked at the pile and marveled that all of that came out of me.

Congratulations on your progress!

That was my experience as well. I hated the taste of those Ensure protein shakes but they were really good for boosting the energy level so I drank them down. Those first days after surgery I was hungry ALL the time!

Yeah that's what I had too- mine started falling out in the restroom in her office the day I went in to have it removed! She came in because I was standing there freaking out, crying with this big long ribbon hanging out of me lol She assured me it was supposed to come out and there was no need to fear

Me too.  I asked how much there was - 9 yards!  So when they say "the whole nine yards..."

Congratulations on your birthing, Kristyn.  I know the feeling.  I cried like a baby afterwards, I just felt so good.  I hope you put the stent up for adoption.  After all, you don't want to have to mother it for the next umpteen years. ;)
