Hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and we are some of our own worst critics. I see some trans girls on one of the dating sites I visit and some right here on Susan's and think "Dang... Wish I could look that good"

Granted, I don't plan on winning any beauty contests any time soon and it shocks the stuff out of me when someone says I'm good looking

But hey, I'm the only me I've got so I'm just gonna do the best with what few features I've got goin' for me and not worry on it too much

I see your problem - you are beingtaken in.

those people in the pics - don't live in LA!

On my page it says "See T-Girls and admirers in [my town]"

You find this on every site that's partnered with a dating site, AFF or whatever - "see what (we think) you are looking for in [your home town] by coming to our site"

it's a lie.

the people in the pics are NOT available through the site, DON'T live in your town, and are quite possibly not even trans.

and their pic has definitely been airbrushed and shopped and so forth.

I know this because I live in a small town and if any of those "t-girls" actually lived here, I would know them.
This ^ ... That's what they do... Those girls could be from anywhere and may not even be trans women

It's a "come on"... Kinda like a store or car dealer that just happens to be out of the advertised special but can hook you up for just a bit extra and an extra more and an extra more besides after that  :P

You are all so sweet and have tried VERY hard to help me through this, and I really appreciate it. But you are missing the point, those girls could be from Mars, that doesnt matter, but my source of depression is their superior beauty and passibility!!!

Did I mention that some of us tend to be our own worst critics? Maybe your judging yourself too harshly

Maybe you pass just as well if not better than they do... But being better than or just as good as isn't the point either

Let's see your girl pic. again

I live in a college town, and there are some really cute, pretty college girls here.  Will I ever look like them?  Not unless I get a body and age transplant.  Then I look around, and there are some OK college girls and a few that were not blessed.  They're still a lot younger than I am, but I then realize that I'm doing OK for an old broad - especially for one with decades of testosterone-poisoning.

Don't compare yourself to the most gorgeous.  Who are you?  Are you a good person?  Are you working to become the best person you can be?  Looks are nice, but what kind of person are you?

In another few years all humans will be depressed because they aren't as pretty as animes.

- Kate

That. I've been guilty of that for years. However, understanding what is real and what isn't sorted me out. Seeing past the anime cuteness, I've realized that I indeed am cute and pretty enough for a real human being.  :D

Anyway those AFF ads are fully fake. I've also developed plenty of dating sites for clients and they all wanted thumbnail advertisements that pick out random fake pictures and names. Those profiles don't even exist. The ad title and location are dynamic. Take it from a web developer who developed hundreds of dating websites over a period of eight years.

you are going to have a long depressing life if you continue to compare yourself to lovely young women.
There will always be those while you have missed the boat twice so to speak - once by being born male and second by waiting until now to try to feminise.
Forget about competing with GGs and do the best with what you have.

The green god of envy tends to plague women. If only I had her breasts, if only her hair if only etc.

There was a fascinating article about advertising pics, Cruelladeville may remember it as she is in advertising, I cannot remember where it was. Anyhow, they took a very attractive female model, professional make up artists and hair dressers worked on her, and she looked gorgeous. The photographer took the pics in the best lights etc, she was more stunning. They then photo-shopped her, lengthened her neck, raised her cheek bones, reduced her nose, changed her eye colour etc. That was the picture that went on the front of the magazine. A person who it is utterly impossible to look like.

As for pics in sites, most are lifted from other areas, nothing in such sites are probably legitimate. It's like dating agencies, "Gorgeous 6 foot guy, well dressed, handsome and lean and fit wishes to meet TG lady for long term loving relationship.' You phone up, Oh sorry he has just been taken , but we do have Brad and Tom, they are older., bald and have beer bellies, smell and are obnoxious. I think they are really into sex and that's about it, You want to meet them?

Cindy :-* :-* :-* :-*

BTW I reckon all the girls on this site are gorgeous. Some really hot guys too :embarrassed:

The words "if only" are deadly to your happiness.  If only I was pretty.  If only I was younger.  If only I had been born female.  If only I had transitioned earlier.  If only I was rich.  If only I had better parents.

Your life starts now.  You have to work from where you are now to get to where you want to go.  Worrying about regrets and "if only"s saps your energy and can blind you to opportunities that present themselves in the here and now.

Carpe diem.  (This diem won't be around again.)

Iris I personally think you look pretty bloody good,  and if I was a guy I would defo say Hi and ask if you were free tonight.
It's all airbrush and photoshop these days in the modelling business I'm afraid.  Local top model  Kristy Hinze says she has awful skin from all the heavy photo make-up too, for what it's worth.

I used to tape (yes, I am that old!) talk shows during the day, when I knew they were having either drag or transgender themes.  Sally Raphael, Donahue, Maury, etc.  They had many very glamorous, extraordinarily beautiful transwomen on.  Most, however, had had extensive silicone injections.  DEADLY!!  While the results are nothing less than spectacular,  I saw one woman that said she couldn't feel anything by touch anymore, and anyone touching her would feel something "solid" because of all the silicone just under her skin.  Here in Florida there have recently been arrests for "pump" parties where someone with a little i.e. deadly, amount of knowledge pumps a lot of often home builders grade silicone into GG as well as trans women.  You can get a J lo ass, at the risk of infections, silicone migration, and deadly clots.  So not worth it.
Also, as an interesting aside, many high end models are actually intersexed males with a specific anomaly.  Their bodies produce absolutely no testosterone receptors.  They typically have very short uterus, and testicles residing up where a genetic female has ovaries.  That means that even though they produce fairly large amounts of T, it has no effect because of no receptors.  GG's produce relatively small amounts of T, but have T receptors so every woman has some male features, while these genetic males do not.  They look more "female" then GG's.   It occurs in about 1 to 1500 males, but I saw an estimate that maybe 5% of high end female models have it.
I mention this to point out that competition is difficult or futile.  By the way, google "before after airbrushed models" to go to sites with great before and after photos.  Jezebel.com (love that site name) has a famous one of Faith Hill on the cover of Redbook.  It caused a great deal of conversation when it was posted, about impossible standards for women.  I believe that it inspired the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty where they used actual women, with flaws, in their ads and have been trying to start conversations worldwide to establish realistic beauty ideals.  There are also ad campaigns by Haines that have real women in their underwear, size 14 not 0, and they are sexy and beautiful!

Envy can be a nasty thing to deal with.  It can be hard, maybe almost impossible to avoid.  I've often been watching tv and found myself thinking "God I wished I was that young and looked that good.". But hell I'm happy with my life, and really would I change anything?  Nah, not on your life.

The grass may look greener on the other side but it must take an awful lot of work to make it that way.  ;)

Steph

That's what I thought!  But the pictures of the women/girls I've seen on Susan's have all been very beautiful.

But, like Virginia said, everyone is their own worst critic.  I've no real hope of looking male no matter what, but I've been told given practice and a swap of clothes and a shorter haircut and I should be able to pass-especially once on T.

Where does "passability" come in if they are not trans?

and if they lied to you about where they were from, what makes you think they told the truth about their gender status?

Beauty and passability come from within, no really it does.   Being comfortable with who you are is half the battle, maybe 3/4 of the battle.  Ok good bone structure helps too.    Lord knows I can change expression and look guyish,  but then whats the fun with that.
