Simply as it says. I know the process for name change but is it harder to change a last name at the same time?

when you change your name you can change the entire thing
Personaly I just added in an assumed maiden name to have a hyphenated last name when I changed mine.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

a name change is a name change .....you can change it all or just your first name...it really doesn't matter

When I changed mine, I did the whole nine yards.

That's what I'm thinking. I just want to walk away from that name. I know that making the changes won't really change everything but I guess for me it'll let me let go of some of my past that I hate

Unless I talk to my parents, and they out and out disown me, I have no plans to change my last name.

Both sides of my family were great people, and I'm proud to carry my last name.

That's great Astarielle! :) My father well he tries and didn't disown me but the woman he had an affair with while still with my mom now shares my last name. I know it may seem petty but that and a few other little stupid reasons like being teased about my last name since kindergarten have me wanting to just start new.

I already change my last name because I was on such nasty terms with my family- if I get to the point where I'd be changing my first I'd have to change last too, otherwise it'd be a constant reminder of something I'd lost.

I only changed my first name and kept the first letter the same as my previous name so i wouldn't have any problems with my initials. I decided not to change my last name because my family is dear to me even if there are a few rotten apples.

Thanks Aegir and Rosemary. Me and my mother came up with a name that we both love that will leave me with the same initials because I also thought it would cause problems.

mr_marc

I considered it, using my mams maiden name.
But the thought of my dad exploding and the sulk i'd get after that turned my stomach and seemed pointless.
I was going to do it so no one would find me on facebook or anything like that.

But my dad would of seen it as 'abandoning the family' ::)
But really it was so no one would find me.

In my dad's family, the first born child takes a 'family' middle name.. I was the first born child so I got lumped with it.. It's a surname and it will become my surname when I do my name change soon.. And here in Australia, I can change first name, last name or both without issue..

No. I did it and had no problems. I kept my first name (unisex) but changed my middle and last name. I changed my last name to my original surname but I don't think it really matters.

Thanks Kelly and Radar :) It'll be a while before I can because it costs $550 where I'm at but I'm glad to hear I can change it all at once

Kitpup

I'm planning on changing it all. My father was a jerk and a thief, my mother and her father are not a great part of my life, and it wouldn't feel right having my grandparent's name, somehow. I was initially going to take my mother's maiden name, but recent events have changed my mind and I took what would've been my second middle name and it's going to be my last. (I've been planning on changing my name my whole life for those reasons.)

Thanks Rob, yeah I'm a college student though so I'm getting loans, which is why I didn't think that was possible. I'm in Florida.

Kitpup: Wow, I'm sorry man. I hope it all goes well for you.

Loans don't count as income .... let me look & see what I can find
