I just went to buy a one touch home electrolysis kit online but don't know if it works the person said it's new and never opened. Can anyone tell me if they had experience with it before I fill out the order? I need to know by today before I might make a mistake especially since I'm living with my mom and she had a bad experience with a kit maybe 10 years ago plus she doesn't want to believe that I'm transgendered. So if anyone had experience with an at home electrolysis kit please post it.

have you got a steady hand that will let you stick the needles down the follicles and wait while the pain builds up to toe curling level?
if not don't buy.
the idea of electrolysis is the tip of the needle has to glow red hot to sizzle the root so does the box state that or can you contact the maker?

Do you have details of the make and model?

The main thing I got when I saw it was it was a One Touch Home Electrolysis and it has sentivity settings 1-10. Comes with the tweezers. Kind of cheap $25 with about $7 shipping. It looks like all the rest of the pictures I've seen.

Found these two. They are reviews. Hope they are OK.

Addition.

This is a sample from the first link:

QuoteThe British TS website maintained by the Looking Glass Society doesn't mince words: "These items are widely available on the retail market, and are generally very simple, low-powered, galvanic electrolysis units. In practice the power levels developed are quite insufficient to treat male-type hair, and again these products are quite useless in the treatment of transsexuals. In addition, the needles supplied with these units are generally not disposable, non-sterile, poor quality and excessively large in diameter. In the opinion of the present authors these kits are a recipe for permanent skin damage."

Another addition.

Sorry to bring you such disappointing news. (If that is what it is to you). I'm sure we all appreciate how important this issue is to all of us.

I'm sure I read in another thread, one of the more established member here said that epilation produces good results and can eventually destroy some roots.

Great I was just trying to find an easy way to get rid of the facial hair without shaving (razor burns, itchiness) so if not that then what can I use that's cheap and gets rid of hairs permenantly.

I've tried the One Touch deluxe by the same manufacturer a few months ago.   I tested it on my legs on an area 3in X 3in which the hair follicles are more easily to access.   My experience is the process is quite painful and I could really feel the zap (probably my pain tolerance is low)..... After the teatment the follicles turned very dark for a few days and eventually came back to normal color.  The good thing is the hairs are gone and don't come back since then.  But I didn't use it afterwards because the pain is too much for me... I don't think I can use it on other area like my face.... leg maybe ok.   But for that price I think it is no harm if you can take the pain.

I have had laser and extensive professional electrolysis.  You really can't see my facial hair, BUT I can FEEL it!  I have had trouble finding a new professional so have used the one step.  Gone through 3.  1st - throw away those tweezers! go to your favorite beauty place or bed, bath&beyond with one of their coupons and get a tweezerman pair.  Moderately expensive, but worth it.  The needle of the unit does NOT glow red.  The electric charge while in the follicle causes naturally occurring substances to turn into sodium hydroxide, which kills (poisons) the follicle.  It is a learning experience to be able to find the follicle opening and insert while NOT touching the metal part, then actually touch the metal and complete the circuit, then hold for 40 seconds.  Works very well and inexpensively for cleanup, after major work is completed.  Not for trying to do whole face, unless you are a researcher in the arctic with plenty of time and batteries.   Order plenty of styluses, clean rigorously after each use.  You use salt water on your fingers to make the connections and that builds up.  In an hour I can do 45 maybe.  The neck is extremely difficult because of trying to hold unit just so.  You move, you bend the stylus.  Hope this helps.

I haven't shaved since I was 23. Simply because I didn't want to damage the skin on my face. I reckoned that if I left a short covering of hair, until I am ready, then the skin under will still be soft.

I do have a cutter which cut the hair to about 3mm. It also has an attachment for foil shaving. I use this occasionaly on my lower lip since the hair grows right up to the vermilion and is uncomfortable. When I do, the skin is left very soft and stays that way for a couple of days.

To be quite honest, before I joined Susans', I didn't give a lot of thought to how I would ever remove the hair. But now, I'm thinking that perhaps the best thing to do is always have a really good foil shaver and get into the habit of simply doing it.

Eppliation sounds good, but don't fancy it on my face. I can usually tolerate quite a bit of physical pain. But I don't want to risk my face.

I will never use soap and a rasor blade on my face.
