Ironically, I'm not scared of telling my Mum and Dad I'm transitioning. I just don't seem to be able to get close enough to them (geographically) to actually tell them!
I've been ready to tell my parents since last month, but then my Mum got a bad cold. Then another one. Then my dad got it. Then my Mum got bronchitis. As a result, I've not been allowed across the threshold of the house as they're terrified they'll give it to me!
Hmmm. gonna be a nice little surprise for my poor Mum once I'm able to visit them properly. Mind you, she'll probably surprise me my taking it entirely in her stride, eg:

Mum: How lovely to see you, darling. Cup of tea?
Gil: Ooh, yes please.
Mum: Biscuit with that?
Gil: Yes please. Mum, I'm a bloke.
Mum: Yes, dear, we know. Are you staying for dinner?

Thank you, Jessica. I'm actually not expecting it to go as smoothly as that - there will be some initial "oh my god, are you sure" stuff, but they do already know I'm trans. I just don't think they're expecting me to do anything about it. :o

Good luck man, I hope it goes well for you :)

Good luck!

It reminds me of coming out to my aunt (my parents died when I was young): though she knew already it was still rather emotional (to say the least).
