Thanksgiving a.k.a. Turkey Day.

Not really to do with post op stuff. Moving to General Discussions.

I actually had a vegan Thanksgiving.  Complete with Tofurky.  And before you say someting Osiris, it was really good.  Even you would not know the difference,  ;)

Just hoping to start conversation.

I had a nice Thanksgiving with a bunch of gay guys. Naturally, when the conversation turned to transsexualism, I was paranoid that people were onto me.

Will I ever stop doing that?

So what if they are, Arch.  You are still a guy, right?

Hey Julie, you never did say How your turkey day went.

Don't Pffft me Osiris.  You would eat road kill if I put it in front of you.  ( a causal flirt )  :D

I certainly hope so, but if they knew about my past, they would treat me differently and filter their conversation. I like that they glorify male anatomy. I like that they say that female parts are icky. I like that when I wear a plaid flannel shirt, they call me a dyke (they do this to any guy who wears a plaid flannel shirt).

I think most of that would go away if they knew. And one guy--he's a member of the discussion group at the Center, but I never see him at parties and these little gatherings--one guy would definitely have a problem with me. He's misogynistic, transphobic, and anti-lesbian. He once said that he didn't like women, and "the more masculine she is, the less I want to know her." I'm sure that he would see me as some kind of glorified dyke.

But he has an incurable disease and is living on borrowed time. I'm not wishing him dead, by the way, just stating a fact.

Everything I've said in the group and at these social gatherings is the truth--about my childhood, my upbringing, my family, my fantasies, my romantic relationships, my love of men--but I leave out a lot, obviously.

I don't want them to think that it was all a lie. None of it was untrue, except I did slip up once when telling a story in which I said that my mother called me by my guy name when I was a kid. I didn't say that intentionally; it just slipped out.

I just want them to treat me like all the other guys. It's so wonderful, and I've wanted it for so long.

Probably never, but if it was positive conversation, don't sweat it to much.
A couple of weeks ago my clueless colleague (I'm stealth at my new work) pulled up some anti-trans stuff on his computer and was expecting me to laugh along with him as he shat on trans peeps. It was pretty hard not to smack him in the face or out myself.

Do you have a strategy in place for the event that you are outed? i.e. a prepared speech to deliver?

I made omelettes.

I've sort of tried out a few things in my head, but this possible event really should be the least of my worries because I have so much other personal stuff to work on. I might journal about it over winter break, though.

My thanksgiving sucked. Me and someone I was seeing on a more than friends level decided to end it and just be friends. I cried for close to an hour that night. Wasn't very productive with school work. On the plus side, I did see some friends up there and got to know a really nice older transwoman and her partner, who live in my area. Overall though, it sucked =(

My Thanksgiving was wonderful.  Had the people I really care about at the table.  Simply marvelous, and for THAT, I am thankful.  Avatar pic taken on ... Thanksgiving Day.

We don't have Turkey Carnage Day here, and after hearing how Texans create a "Turducken" (chook stuffed inside a duck inside a turkey, all boned out!) I think it is a wise move. ;D

What kind of Omelettes? Did you have fun making them?  I love your name by the way.

Lacey Lynne & Janet Lynne both of your new Avatars are very nice. Love to see your smiling faces.
Tofurkey is good. I don't know about as good as real turkey though. :) Healthier for sure.

Arch it seems to me, you are the exception to all of your friends phobias. You are too good and they would have a laugh at themselves if they figured out what they were missing.  Perhaps even loose thier phobias at that point because they would realize thier stereotyping was ridiculous.

@ Themadwomyn, I am sorry that your Tday was not very nice. I hope today is Magical and something so nice happens it makes you forget about Tday altogether.
