I'm just curious what other people think. I'm getting a Helix ear piercing. At first I was gunna get it on the right to show i'm gay but i've heard from some of my friends that if a gay guy has a right earring its more associated with being a more submissive person and the left is dominant. So because of that now im stuck between left ear or right ear again XD any ideas?

"Left is right, Right is gay" or that's how I've always heard it.  I've never heard that the right means you're more submissive, but I suppose I can see why someone thinks that.  Just go with whichever you want.  Or go get both pierced.

Pierce both, then after they heal you can choose whichever side you want.  ;)

Well, I'm submissive and gay but so far I only have my left ear pierced. Then again, I'm not so sure that counts because I plan on eventually getting two or three piercings on each ear, so, yeah. Also, at the time I was all very closeted and had heard the thing about getting your right ear pierced and so I was all "DON'T DO THAT I DON'T WANT PEOPLE TO THINK I'M GAY." But, yeah.  :P

Nobody's going to seriously read anything into your earrings. Earring codes, hanky codes, all that business...more-or-less obsolete bits of gay history, thanks to a number of factors (largely the ability to talk openly and legally about sex...thank you Lawrence v. Texas).

As a jeweler I will tell you that no one cares, aside from high school kids, what ear or ears are pierced. (or what fingers you have a ring on.) Even the groups that still follow such ideas will ask before assuming any thing anyway in most every case.
Sorry, I was a bit late getting in and helping on this subject.

I got both of my ears pierced and I don't have any conversation about it. Once some one said "doesn't having both of your ears pierced mean that you are gay". Well I 'm not all gay but I said in response, while looking directly into his eyes, "yep, that's right, I'm gay". He shut up.

The whole gay ear thing is long long dead, even here in Oklahoma. lol. With males and females piercing and stretching both lobes to rappers with diamonds in both ears its all about fashion and personal appeal. Do what you like best.

I watch American Chopper - fascinated by the low IQs of the guys - and there are two guys who have a good selection of big objects in their lobes.  One in left and other guy in right.
Then on UK telly is woman's clothes prog by a guy who gives impression of raving gay and he has a big black object in left lobe.
Ear objects need approaching the way Amazon women cut one breast off to facilitate archery - put ear objects in ear that gets less knocking about.

There aren't any rules about that.. just go with which one looks better (or the side you DON'T sleep on for less annoyance  ;D )

It's really cheep to get ears pierced, so I'd say get both.  They close up well if you take it out within the first month or so, so you can always decide on having one or the other.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love
