Video surveillance of the fight inside the Kohl's Department Store in Jackson on Black Friday shows two groups arguing in the breezeway before the fight left a transgender woman with three teeth knocked out and a man with a bitten, lacerated thumb.

The video shows Akasha Adonis, of Humboldt, and Torrance Bates, of Jackson, fighting on the floor for less than a minute before Kohl's employees separated the two.

Investigators showed clips of the video on Monday after District Attorney General Jerry Woodall said he does not plan to prosecute the case based on conflicting statements and video footage from Kohl's that shows Bates may have acted in self-defense.

that's about 60 miles north of me, and i have a pretty good friend from another forum who lives up there and knows a lot of the cops and stuff.

He's a pagan and quite tolerant and accepting so there's no bigotry in his views that I'm aware of.

the video, to me, is inconclusive abut who started it - and Akasha is adamant on Facebook that what the video misses is that the guy was "just braking it up" until he decifered that she "was a man" and then he was belligerent.

He, of course, says she through the first punch as anyone would to try to avoid an assault charge, so both have a vested interest in lying.

My friend says that if you see the whole video, it looks more like she assaulted him - and that the thumb/tooth thing was because she bit him - and that the DA decided not to file charges against HER because of the politics of it.

I can't say either way, but there's definitely room for doubt.

QuoteIn his statement, McCullar says, "I had no prejudice against Mr. Quick, and I performed my duties just as I would with any other person regardless as to their disposition on life."

McCullar's supervisor, Lt. Jim Collum says in a letter to Adonis that he found the complaint to be unfounded.

Capt. Holt said Monday that he does not believe the situation could have been handled differently, and the department will not change how it trains officers.

"I don't think we see that here," Holt said in response to a questions about whether officers treat transgender individuals disrespectfully.

I would say that he was lying based on the fact that he used her old male name instead.... and I think his supervisor's defending him....

Anyone knows what the fight was all about??
Sometimes when life is a fight - we just have to fight back and say screw you - I want to live.

Sometimes we just need to believe.

Typical Black Friday line cutting childishness.

Differing tales about who, if anyone, was out of line. Apparently the guys girlfriend was mouthy and she and Akasha got into an argument and dude tried to break that up and when he found out Akasha "was a man" things escalated.
