Quick rant about dancing

Dancing is my addiction.  I do a little of just about every type and go out most nights I'm free.  I can lead certain types fairly well, but I am stuck following in most situations.  This wouldn't bother me if it weren't for the fact that if a follow doesn't dress femininely, they tend to get very few dances.  I'm working on learning how to lead other types at the moment, but I'm often stuck between dressing like a girl, going as myself and not dancing much, and staying home.  I guess what really is bothering me about this is how superficial dancers (me included to a certain extent) can be.  It's surprising how much your clothing (as opposed to your dance skill) can control the night.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

I understand that modern dances tend to have some formality about them, dance steps and such.

Is this the case here?

I use to love dancing, but it was more the boogie moves, where the emphasis was on moving in a sort of stylised manner to the music. (Sadly, ancient suff from the late 60s and 70s. Think it's called disco now).

Yeah, I do west coast swing, salsa/rueda de casino, blues, argentine tango, and contra mostly, so it will take some time to become a decent lead for them.

Spacial, I can definitely imagine you doing disco.

It was fun. And it really kept me fit.

The last time I managed it was about 10 years ago, at a friend's wedding. He was a lot younger than us, but liked disco music and thought it would make for a fun reception.

It was.

Sadly, for the next few weeks, my joints were kinda out of action, if you see what i mean. We all have to accept the penalities of passing years I suppose.

I saw a video a while back, where a bunch of cowboy types were doing, I think they called it, line dancing. I hope they enjoyed it.

Are there any lesbian only dance clubs where you can always be a leader until you get good enough for a mixed dance hall?
the tango definitely needs the macho haughtiness of a male lead so get yourself a ramrod backbone and hold your head high and forget about the rose between your teeth.
I've just phoned to ask about lessons in local old fashioned ballroom as I really do fancy the basic ballroom dances especially waltz, tango, quickstep.
Now that Strictly Ballroom is a major hit on our television its brought ballroom back into fashion and a program this week took a bunch of nerdy teenage brats and in one month had them all excellent dancers enough to go do a display.
These slouchy scruffy shy kids changed over four weeks into attractive, handsome confident young adults.
Regular dancers are always happy to dance with anyone rather than just sticking with their mate so maybe a few weeks lessons would be all you need to cut it as a guy that other women would like to dance with?
