I'll try to keep this short. You know how when you choose a name, it should kind of have a flow to it? Like  Michael Pete Scott, doesn't sound good, it doesn't flow. Michael Peter Scott, does. I'm not sure if it's just me, but maybe it has something to do with syllables. Anyways, after careful consideration of the 2nd and final change of my name I've finally narrowed it down to one first name, a nick name, but with four middle names I just can't figure out. Now granted I'm giving myself a month until I officially get it changed, but I mean this is really bugging me because these names are all kind of important to me in a little way.

Jay (Nickname) Jacob, my first name.

Middle Names: Parker, Chance, Riley and Keith.

Parker is currently my first name, so it has a years worth of history with it. I'm not sure if I should just lay it to rest or keep it with me, as a reminder that I'm still the same person.

Chance is a current middle name I have, and it basically is just because I believe everything happens merely by chance. The good, the bad, it was all chance. Some people just got dealt ->-bleeped-<-tier cards than others. Also I loved the movie curiosity of chance, and could relate to the character and never wanted to forget the point of the story.

Riley is a name my mom really likes, she'd rather have it as my first name but is comfortable with Jay.

Keith, that's a very important name to me. There was this guy in high school who was the first guy where I felt there wasn't something defective with me, because nobody wanted to be my friend, that was a guy, not without ulterior motives. He had this large scar that he was never afraid to show, and never tried to cover. I wanted to be like that, to not be afraid to show my scars, because we all have them, inside or out.

So what do you guys think, I don't want four middle names, but they all kind of mean something to me and it's hard to weed them out. The first time I changed my name I kept wishing I had these ones in there somewhere.

Well I can't measure how much each one means to you personally.  You will have to do that.  but I can give my opinion on what "sounds" or "flows" good together.

I actually think that Jacob flows well with all four middle names.  So then I listen to what I thought flowed best with "Jay".  and I still don't think any of them sound horrible together, but I aligned them into "best to worst" imo.

1st. "Jay Parker"
2nd. "Jay Riley"
3rd. "Jay Keith
4th. "Jay Chance"

Again this is just my opinion.  Also, imo, I think that the personal meaning the name has to you means more than how well it flows together.  Afterall, it's not often that someone will say your whole name out loud.

Yes, well that's what I want, opinions on what flows.  :)

I however currently use two middle names, never just one, so I'm just trying to get rid of two.

Like I find these sound good:

Jacob Riley Keith
Jacob Parker Chance
Jacob Riley Chance
Jacob Riley Parker

Riley for some reason always sounds better coming after Jacob.

Any opinions on these four? They are in no specific order of what I like best.

Call yourself something that guys really call themselves, and not something that screams GAY from the next country.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...
  •

Sam-

Jacob Riley definitely sounds the best, as for the third name I think Chance fits best
  •

PandaValentine

Hahaha. They sound gay?

Okay, well it looks like Riley makes it as the first middle name. Hmm what to do, what to do.

Hey, I happen to like things that screams gay :)

Anyway, back to the topic, I like Jacob Riley Chance

(And I don't think it sounds gay at all.)

So, don't blame the straight guys when they reject you, right?

That's absolutely right! :D  but I wouldn't want to be with a straight guy anyway.

Okay, okay, it's decided. I guess it's Jacob Riley Chance. Does sound best the more I say it. I suppose I'll just have to be one of those people who gets a dog and names them things like Keith.  :D

No, you'll be the guy when I want French fries and a cheeseburger will be sent out to get them.

Not trying to cause problems, but this sounded unneccessarily rude to me  ???  He's just asking opinions on a name, judging his possible career opportunities isn't called for. It's harsh and unrelated, completely.

Tekla, that was slightly uncalled for.

Parker, is that a name? I thought it was a surname. Peter Parker is what I think of.

Jacob Keith lastname. Then you can call yourself Jay or Jake, and Keith is your embarrassing middle name. It all goes together.

I doubt your whole romantic and occupational future is based on your name, especially parts you barely ever use. Uncalled for, and makes zero sense.

As for the name, Jacob Riley Keith is my favorite. I'm partial to names that sound like Keith, so that's probably why. Not only that, but I really like the story behind it, but that's for you to judge.

Jacob Riley Keith flows nicely. For the love of anything, why use Chance? There's something very... American about using abstract nouns as names. If you like it, go ahead, just my opinion.

Something tells me I won't be happy with just two middle names, I wonder if I should just have three...  It's true they won't really ever be used, but they will forever be on my birth certificate, the rest of my information would just say Jacob R (because Riley is first). Anyways thanks for your guys help. I'm going to think it through a bit more. I think I'm more confused since I got some opinions on the name Keith. I really hate making choices in life, I'm so indecisive. My nephew has three middle names, 'Hayden Nicholas Christopher'. Hmmm.

well if it makes you feel anymore relaxed, just remember that you can always change your name again.  that made me feel better when I changed mine.

  •

PandaValentine

The thought that I can change it again doesn't relax me actually. It makes me feel like I don't need to be as thoughtful in my decision. It also pisses me off because this was my a hundred and thirty seven dollars from my surgery fund.  :(

I might get hit for mentioning this, but have you considered changing your last name too? I know a lot of people don't want to do that because their family name is important to them or their family, but it wasn't an issue for me, so I changed all three of my names.

But anyway, if you were able to change your last name too, I think Jacob Riley Chance Parker is an awesome name, or Jacob Chance Keith Riley. That way you could be Jacob R. Parker (Jay Parker), or Jacob C. Riley (Jay Riley), and you get to keep three of the names you like, instead of only two. Both Riley and Parker make awesome last names, so either would fit, and I like the name Chance, it's cool  ;D

For the record, Jacob Riley Chance is my fave for a first name and two middles.

Rileyyy

i like jacob (or jay) parker the best. to me chance sounds like a last name and doesn't really fit with jacob. if you're really set on riley, i'd say drop the other middle names, because to me it "jacob riley keith" sounds weird. maybe i'm biased though, since my name is riley and i don't really like the name keith haha  ::)

if you were going to go for initials though, J. C. Riley sounds friggin awesome haha
