so today i finally went shopping with my brand new aunt, she decided to be called Kim . Im happy to say that i gave her enough encouragement to go out and be herself today. I hope she will stick to this routine of being who she is. I was used to seeing her even as a little kid as a depressed wreck, very sad and drinking most of the time but she was just glowing today when we went shopping i told her not to mind the people around, i dnt believe anyone should care what other people think its what makes you happy! Its pointless to waste ur life unhappy just to please others and make them happy. I know alot of tg people lose friends, families and even jobs and as someone who has seen this first hand in my uncles case i believe its wrong, especially family should realize that a person doesnt change they are still the same person they are just changing something that makes them unhappy, if someone is unhappy with something they have the right to change that thing. Not everyone sees it like that but its just been very upsetting for me to see this and ive even gotten incredibly angered by my own family these past few days because they criticize me for spending time with my aunt, especially now that she's alone! Im just happy to see my aunt happy and shes not alone cuz ill be there

I am so happy for your aunt Kim.  And as far as your family is concerned, tell them that she needs you because they are being self centered.  "Oh What will the neighbors think?  Or the lady at the market?"  Well screw what others think, she needs to be happy and you are one of the sources of that happiness.

You're right that people are affraid of what others will think about them, so, the social pressure can be very high.
Sometimes too high, it can ruin lives.

Dear Marta,
You are a truly wonderful person. Sadly a lot of people cannot see that their actions and thought are hurtful and even deceitful. In this day and age in our society  many of us think acceptance should be the norm rather than the rarity.

Marta, you are one in many millions.   Supporting your aunt and understanding her needs is something the majority of people cannot even comprehend, must less begin to understand.  It illustrates how self-centered and insecure are so many people, they attempt to force their own beliefs onto others.  You are seeing the true person inside your aunt, while everyone else demands to see the empty shell they forced onto her for so many years.
