Protest: City manager wants to shut down gay bar

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- A Lake Worth city commissioner is asking for an investigation into claims of discrimination against a local bar and restaurant that caters to the gay community, and there's an ironic twist.

The main antagonist against The Cottage is alleged to be the city's transgendered city manager, Susan Stanton, who reportedly has made claims that the gay bar's activities are not welcome in her town.

Protestors gathered outside Lake Worth City Hall Tuesday evening, some dressed in drag. They're demanding city commissioners open an investigation into what they call a campaign to harrass The Cottage, a popular establishment that has branded itself as the only gay-friendly downtown restaurant in Lake Worth.

  Welcome to Susan's!  Thank you for the story!  I smelled a rat earlier on the allegations against Sue Stanton.  I seen this before by people using the race, religious, political correctness and even the gay card against officials trying to enforce the laws.  Some of these people had their reputations and careers ruined by such action, even though they were exonerated by the higher officials and even the press.
  Looks like the owner of The Cottage was looking at a tax default action and was looking for a way to bail out.  We have a lot of tax defaults lately in my city and they are published biannually in a special section in my local paper.  The owner of The Cottage will have to grin and bear it like everyone else!
