For what it's worth, I find a little sleep deprivation can *help* if I'm a bit depressed, but I'm the type that sleeps more when they are depressed, as a symptom - often the first one that'll be noticed. But I think the insomnia with depression type is more common, and so it'd stand to reason that not getting enough sleep wouldn't help that at all!
I'd recommend the Benadryl or Gravol/Dramamine (not the non-drowsy, naturally!) over the Klonopin, in my experience the latter's good for anxiety while awake, and can be chewed in a pinch, but isn't too good at making you sleepy...which is why it's good for use while awake. Robaxacet or other OTC muscle relaxants tend to cause drowsiness too, and herbal things like valerian can also work pretty well if you've got either in the house, or like natural things, but Benadryl's as reliable as a boring meeting. Throw in some hypnotic Facebook games until it kicks in.
(If for some reason you do experience the agitation, it could be from a dye in the brand you used - perhaps try Gravol if you react to brightly colored things, at least my local generics of that are white, rather than neon pink. Of course, can't rule out the drug entirely - I got it from the really heavy duty anti-nausea/tranquilizer Compazine, for migraines, and it was colorless in an IV bag!)
