Yesterday I bought 3 great albums for me

Pearl Jam 1993-2005 2 cd, 33 songs
Audioslave- self title album
Evanescence- Anywhere but Home (live)(CD and DVD)

Coming from Seattle, I been missing the sounds of Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell (lead singer of Audioslave, former lead singer of Soundgarden). I normally got enough back when I was in Seattle listening to 107.7 The End on the radio. I have been here 3 years now (Mississippi) and sort of miss hearing it on the radio.

Evanescence was my favorite music when I heard a few from Origin album, around mid to late 2002, which most the songs became the Fallen album. Back then they were touring small bars, where interviewed on the local radio trying to get people to come out to it. (one bar in Tacoma I remember). I didnt go, but love the song they played on the radio live, auqustic plus her singing (no drums nor bass). I love the DVD concert I watch last night. I lover their hypnotic, surreal, almost angelic, mixed with rock and piano ballads sound. I do think future albums will be hamperred by the missing Ben Moody who is off doing other things like his single with Anastacia "Everything Burns" from Fantastic Four Movie. And co writing "Because of You" on Kelly Clarkson's Breakaway album. Hearing a sample of Evanescence's next album, is really missing his sound. He was the guitar architect that added the counter force to her piano/haunting vocals. The new stuff , without him, sounds real flat on that side now, and weakens her sounds, with the lack of contrast.

I think Pearl Jam has come out with a new DVD recently.  I remember seeing them on VH-1 talking about it.  They all look a little older now.

I do love Audioslave's first album the best, but their second album I feel is not nearly as good as their first one.  It sounded like it was over produced or something.  It did not have the raw feel like the first album has.  Chris Cornell is a great singer and the other band members in Audioslave were all original members in Rage Against The Machine.  I do like Tom Morello's guitar playing, especially on the songs "Show Me How To Live" and "Exploder."

The last CD I bought last week is AFI December Underground.  The songs are kinda dark though, but nevertheless it has lots of good songs on it including Prelude 12/21, Miss Murder, Summer Shudder, The Interview, Love Like Winter, and Affliction.  I love how Jade Puget's guitar and Hunter's bass lines are layered to complement each other.  Jade uses a lot of guitar layering techniques that were pioneered by Les Paul.  The way its arranged, it sounds kinda like new wave techno in many respects.  The only thing I can do without is Davey Havok's over the top shouting vocals in some parts of the songs.  Still a good rockin' CD to have.   ;)

Lalo and Saint Saens cello concertos performed by Yo Yo Ma.  The Saint Saens concerto is perhaps the most demanding of any that I know of for cello.  Mr. Ma performs them flawlessly.  I know that Ma is sometimes criticized for lack of emotion during his performances, but after listening to this, I am awestruck.  The performance is filled with brilliance and feeling.  I highly recommend it to those out there who are looking for something in this genre

I think the last album I bought was Frank Zappa Sheik Yerbouti in 1981. OK so I don't shop for music often.

Last CD I physically bought was Ministry's Rantology.  I'm ripping off an album review with this commment: it should have been put out by Ministry (featuring George W. Bush).  I've also heard Rio Grande Blood which also seems excellent, though I haven't bought it.

If you like your music political and angry and full of guitars, I'd recommend it.  They had their heyday back in 1991-2, with Bush I, but I think the music they're making now is just as cool and good and even more angry.  Very influential in my own music.

Weird to think that the guy that writes the stuff is older than my mom.  Often bands, or at least the fans they have, have no sense of history about the music they listen to.  "You ever hear of AC/DC?"  Uhh, yeah . . .

Before, the last CD I got was either A Silver Mt. Zion or Godspeed You! Black Emperor.  Awesome bands, either way you go.  Quite different than Ministry.

Score to Chronicles of Narnia.

I use movie score music for inspiration when I sit down to work on stories.  Often times, my mind will write a completely different story based around the soundtrack of the movie I curently watching.

Yes, it does get a little confusing at times...

The Killers' Hot Fuss album. Awesome electronic/alternative rock. I don't buy a lot of albums, though; mostly I just get my music online, since my tastes are so eclectic and a couple miscellaneous CDs wouldn't do the trick.

how is the new Evanescence? I loved their first album

Seussical the musical :P

Hi Susan,

We just saw that in a wondeful production here before Christmas and I loved it.

I just bought Dionne Warwick's "Ultimate Collection", Sade's "Loved Deluxe" used and Sara McLachlin "Surfacing". I'm in my girl singers phase right now.

Wow, it is really great when one meets an artist and they live up to your expectations. I've met quit a few in my life that don't at all. So I'm jealous of you having met her. Her voice and phrasing is amazing!

After reading this I realized that I haven't purchased any music in at least six or seven years.  I have a degree in music...I lived for it....and for some reason it has simply become more of a subtle background in my life, always playing but never noticed.  Odd....I've never thought about it until now.

I'm actually kind of into the consent to treatment by them.  I was kind of surprised that I liked it as much as I do; my taste is a little heavier than that.
