Does anyone have diabeties and are on hrt?  specifically T.   I am diabetic and take oral & insulin .... my doctor doesn't know much about the combination of the two - she is looking into it -- she supports me in having hrt but I am curious if anyone has diabeties and have they started taking T.  How did you personally react to the combination?

Hey Rob.  I don't have diabetes and *I'm not a doctor*, but it shouldn't be a problem.  Quick google search showed that there are several studies out there on T and diabetes.  Granted, the research is on cisgender males, but the results should be similar.

Taking T might actually help with insulin resistance and glycemic control.  I don't have time to read or reply in depth, but here are some relevant links:

I'm sure there are others.  Hope you and your physician can work something out.

She is totally supportive of me starting hrt --- she won't be the one monitoring it b/c it's not her thing but the other doctor is in the same system.  We are aggressively going after some medical problems so that I can start T.  I have been depressed for years and ignoring my health and now I am motivated and she wants me to start T asap.

I am a diabetic (since the 60's) on pills and insulin.

My doctor appoved HRT and I have not had any problems.   Taking hormones has not raised my blood sugar levels.  However the steroid shots my podiatrist gave me recently sent my numbers skyrocketing.

Not a doctor, did however see a documentary about going raw vegan for 30 days and it cures 'type 2' diabetes. Doesn't always cure type 1. Just thought I'd mention it if you hadn't heard. All up to you if you'd like to try it. If you'd like to watch it, I can look up the link for it again.

Sorry, that's not too likely.  So many stories out there, so many lies.

Please do not list the link here.

That's very close minded of you. My grandma never went raw vegan but she did make a significant change in her diet, so much of a change she stopped having to prick her finger every day. Unfortunately she still died, her being a second mother to me. So to shot down a possibility that could save somebody's life, true or not, that is not harmful and costs nothing, well like I said, it's close minded. If you can reverse heart disease by going vegetarian, can cure certain types of cancer with diet, I'm sure diabetes is on that list of possibilities of being cured through eating habits. Hell I cured my fibromyalgia, acid reflux, and chronic headache problem I was having for 5 years. I realize there are many lies out there, but diet is constantly proven to improve life, and veganism, well I think there is a reason vegans live longer than the average person, I believe it's by 6 years?

While I'm very happy it has worked for you, and I agree that losing weight, exercising and eating correctly will help a Diabetic, it will not cure them.  Diabetes is always there waiting to reappear.

I belong to several Diabetic sites and none of them recommend the Vegan approach, and it can be dangerous for a diabetic.  The best place to start is to control your carbs, that will reduce blood sugar spikes.

I would love to end the continual finger sticks (checking blood sugar levels) and the mulitple shots of insulin a day, but for now that is the life of a diabetic.
