You can tell that Im new here, I just have so may questions and not enough time   to ask them all. May be I need my own forum. Lucy askes all... LOL.

On this occasion Im here because I am thinking of the futor and what it may bring. If I decide to go down the GRS route which I am not sure about yet passing is important to me. I just want to live out my life as a normal woman, thats it. Passing is vital. Am I to old and ugly for that. I have largeish hands not massive. UK size 9 feet. not to tall but but ugly. I may post you all a picture on coming out.

What is a good / bad time to start HRT.

Thank you all once again

Well, before all the older people his this thread, Let me just say this.....

Your hands are never too big... I have MASSIVE paws... though there still passable after HRT...
I wish my feet were size 9... I wear 11s  <we are talking fem size right?>
and finaly, your never too old to transition.  Period... If its right for you, and now is your time, then do it.

I don't feel there's a limit to age myself. We all discover our real selves at different ages for various reasoning. It's just a case of being happy. As for looks, we are each our own worse critics. As for foot size, I am 10 - 101/2 depending on make and Peggy Hill on King of the Hill is size 16 wide and she's suppose to be gg. I just tell people I need larger feet because I am so light I only buoy back and forth like a spring during wind storms rather than blowing away!!lol
All I can tell you is you have to be happy with yourself and passing is something we all worry about. Just don't rush things. You don't want to go from 0-60 in no time at all. Good luck,

I thought the same way, too old, too big/like hands and feet. Well, it took a trip to the hospital to cure my thoughts. I told a friend of mine, she was GG, I'm going to be a female and I may be the ugliest broad in the country, but I will be female. I wear a size 11 wide womans, I have these big sausage like fingers size 15 for my right ring finger. When I get my nails done by some guy, my hands dwarf his, but they are usually Vietnamese and they have small hands, well the ones that I have met anyway. My measurements are 46-37-43 and I'm not that fat. I weigh in at 220 and I'm 5'10". The doctors say that I could lose another 10-20 lbs, but I'm not fat I'm just big. I feel that I pass fairly well, no one has ever said or I haven't seen any snickering or double takes. They call me by feminine pronouns, except on the phone. There is no question that I'm female. I'm 57 years old and I'm almost 3years post op. I have a friend who had surgery and she was 65, this last year. Never too old or ugly.

Lucy,

Not enough time?  Oh, dear, that's a bad frame of mind.  Please reconsider that.  Some of the best advice anyone gave me was to take things as slowly as possible.  You are still young.  I'm in my early 40's.  You have lots of time to do this.  Take a big breath.  Maybe talk to your doc about somrthing for your anxiety as well.

Wishing you the best,

Kristi

Thank you all for your concern, I am deeply honered. This forum and chat was to see if HRT and passing is possible. I know that the HRT would be but its the passing that worries me. I am on a slow steady ride let me asure you of that. Im not rushing into anything. I just feel that if I go down the long road there is a way to live out a long and normal life as a woman not as a TS. Do you understand that. It does sound a little confusing even to me.

Sorry for any confusion.

Hi Lucy...

You are never to old to find happiness.

6 year ago I was 220lb, 5ft 11, 42 inch chest and size 9 UK shoes with a 36 inch waist and 17 1/2 inch neck... a short haired depressed and awful guy.

Today I am 160lb, 5ft 9 1/2, 38 inch bust, size 8 UK shoes, 32 inch waist and 15 1/2 inch neck... long haired, happy and passable woman.

HRT makes a difference, given time, I have been on 8 Years now AND you can always have FFS (if you need it). But passing is a whole package, looks, voices, mannerisms, behaviours, emotions and feelings. You also learn to dress and accessorize to your body shape.

The good thing is women come in all shapes, sizes, hair colours etc....... not something so common in men.

I totally agree with everyone here, its your life, and life is realtivtly short, so live it your way, and make your self happy, follow your heart. A lovely person on the inside, that projects that, is a beautiful person on the outside. Everyone has the potential and the actions to be either beautiful and or ugly and most of the time it does not have anything to do with "preceived" physical attractivness.

Also, beauty, size, its all relaitive. I'm 5'9'', and weigh 130 lbs, and have a size nine foot. I wish I had a size 5 foot, and was 5'4". I have a natal girlfriend that is 5'11" and weighs like 150lbs and wears a size 11, she wishes she were 5'9 and could wear a size 9 shoe. Its all a matter of prespective.

As far as transtion goes, don't think so far ahead, just take day by day, a step at a time and just let things work, soon your female self will be emerging and you won't even realize it, and when you look in the mirrior, you will be beautiful, regardless of what you used to think.

I think we have all felt the same things your are feeling. I once thought the same thing. But the HRT will work, and if you decide later there is FFS, but even with that, there is still the emotional and mental side of precption. So just take care of your mind and self now, and do whats right for you.

In the end you will be as beautiful as you want to be.

FFS = Facial Feminization Surgery, plastic surgery to reduce male jawlines, brows, and/or whatever other features you want adjusting.

I am also new to this site. I also wonder if I am too old. I also know that I have questioned myself for years and need to talk to somebody or I will go nuts.

Welcome, Deann!

Age being a relative thing, I have to ask, well, if you were 100 years old and you had the prospect of living as yourself for one day, would you do it?  After experiencing the freedom and joy that is inherent in living honestly and authentically, I would say a resounding YES for myself.

I'm happy you found us Deann and I hope to get to know you better in the future.  Many of us write introductions in the forum section named as such.  I wrote mine on December 29, 2005 if you want to read mine.  It's not really required but we can get to know you better if you'd post one for us.  The site rules should be read and remembered too (not hard at all - they boil down to "be kind and decent"). https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,2.0.html

If you need to talk in real time please do try out our chat room.  If you need facts, our wiki can help and if that's not enough there's our links page.  And by all means read and post here in the forums.  We are a supportive bunch and are always ready to lend an ear and a shoulder if needed.

again, WELCOME ! ! :)

When I was 24 I decided that if I was going to do this (make the transition), I needed to do so ASAP so as to maximize my results. Well, since then I've met M2Fs who transitioned past the age of 30 - past 40 even - who look great, to the extent that you'd never even know they weren't GGs.

Aside from the great folks on this board I mean. ;)

And in ten years you'll be saying 40 and over and in another ten years you'll be saying 50 and over and then you'll hear "30 and over" from some youngster and tell them the same thing I'm telling you.

I'll be 56 next month and I've never felt better!  ;D

When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

You hit the nail on the head with that one, and I thought 47 was old, but not too old. BTW, you look great Julie!
