Life's getting better actually

I'm not sure where to post this so I'll just leave this here. I just wanted to mention to everyone how happy I am today. I've had issues with coming out as FTM to my mother for quite some time but today she says she can finally accept that - she still cannot, however, accept all the 'baggage' it comes with such as surgery and binding. Other than that I actually bought my first binder! It has still yet to come in but the excitement is still just as intense as if it was sitting right next to me. I ordered from Love Boat and although it's a bit expensive I liked their large selection of various binders. My mom is still against me binding though so all of this is actually private and 'behind her back' so to speak. I ordered it with a visa gift card thing so that the transaction doesn't show up where she can find it and I'm sending it to a friends house instead of mine. So many precautions... But I seriously don't care if she finds out anymore. I'm just too happy to care ahah. I also applied for a job right up the street from here at Office Depot so I plan to use my binder there and go by my preferred name. [By the way is Office Depot known to be trans* friendly?. I did some research but haven't really found out anything other than that they made a business alliance with an LBGT owned company.]Also the majority of my friends now call me by my preferred name and use male pronouns - though they mess up here and there, it warms my hear to know that they're trying and actually care. But yes, life seems to actually be getting better. Oh and I got my braces off today after 6 years of having them! [not FTM related but still happy about it].

Good to hear you are doing well, it doesn't seem that office depot nationally has a trans policy that I am aware of but, you state or locality may differ, here is a link that might help http://www.hrc.org/issues/workplace/organization_profile.asp?organization_id=1172&search_id=1&search_type=Quick

15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

Congratz :D I hope she'll be okay with the 'baggage' soon, but it's still a big step. And lucky you, getting your braces off. I can't wait until I get mine off :)

Congrats on getting your braces off, I didn't have to wear mine nearly as long, but can still remember how happy I was to be free of them. Also your profile pic made me smile.  :D

@ Hikari: Thanks a million for the link. Never crossed my mind to check out the HRC pages.

@ silverarrow: I think my going off to college will help her come around. Just showing her that I can handle my own can perhaps change everything.

@ Keiran_Kei: Ahah, I admit I'm a Bou fan; I'm so sad he left the band. I just love the entire VK genre because the guys can dress in dresses yet still look menacing as heck.
