Do any of the rest of you pluck your facial hair? I have been trying to establish a sensible regimine where I can have a smooth face for more than a day at a time but am finding it difficult to achieve. There always seems to be some stragglers that I have missed somehow and look atrocious-they look bad to me!

Any suggestions this side of something expensive would be appreciated.

I am no good at it myself, but perhaps threading would allow you to cover a higher surface area and not miss them?
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

I've seen videos of girls threading but it looks difficult to me. But anything has to beat doing it with tweezers. I spent two hours today doing my upper & lower lips-there is just so much hair. And I don't dare try it with my epilator but I have been tempted to try it again. No, I just can't go there.

I would like to think that the hair will eventually thin out but no such luck yet.

I have heard some say that waxing will eventually kill the hair follicle (or root). If this is true will plucking and epilating have this effect or is there no truth to it? I can only hope there is. Getting rid of unwanted facial and body hair is one of my coping mechanisms but it remains a struggle-especially with facial hair.

Randi, I do pluck my facial hair but like most of us with too much T early in life there, are so many little hairs. Waxing helps some but it hurts so bad & some of the upper lig hairs are so tough. I've had some laser treatments & it helped some & some electrosis. It is probably the hardest thing to do in becoming a nice normal woman for me.

I feel your pain, just a little while ago plucking out some hairs.

I'm trying new Tria Laser system next week, if your hairs are dark the laser will work. I had laser treatments years ago & have some very smooth parts where they did the treatments. You might look into this Tria system.

Alas, most of my facial hair is now white. When I pluck it the white ones always come back long before the black or red ones. I don't guess it will hurt to continue doing what I have been doing but it does get overwhelming sometimes-there are just so many of them!

I have my first treatment of IPL tomorrow @ A$150 per session . The lady I spoke to said I may need up to ten treatments but, that is a lot cheaper then the original laser that I had 14 years ago at a cost of A$800 a session .

My facial hair is quite sparse due to waxing for the last 4 years, I get maybe less then ten hairs on my lip nowadays  compared to about a hundred a few years ago. The lady I spoke to today also said that waxing is good because it weakens the hair follicle, making it easier to destroy with the laser. I will find out anyway. I will be happy with any result and are prepared for any let down as the treatments aren't perfect though every little bit helps. My hair is borderline ginger / dark brown with a few white's btw.

I might also add that the lady did show me another machine that is similar to needle electrolysis except that there is no needle and that instead the hand piece clamps onto the individual hair and then sends the current through the hair. It is roughly the same cost as electrolysis but, there is no risk of scarring and is eventually going to supersede it. I will ask again tomorrow the name of that machine.

And yes I have plucked individual hairs on my face before, many times. it takes several hours to do the whole face lol.

If you have dark to medium dark hair I strongly recommend the Tria Laser product. It works like any laser at any salon, easy to use, seems first class product.  total cost is $400, easy to use on face & or anywhere, it covers 3/4's of a dimes diameter with each pulse, easy & fast to use.  I've had lots of expensive salon laser hair treatments & this product works the same.

FYI girl friends

Have to say that the IPL hurt a lot more then expected, no pain no gain I guess. Will try some numbing cream next time.
A lot less painful then the Ruby Laser at least

I've pluck a little.  It hurts too much to try to do my whole face plus I bleed a lot from the facial hairs I pluck.  There are some around my nose I can't get to with my razor so I'll always have to pluck those unless I get laser or electrolysis.
