This was the first thing I noticed too, that sense of calm. I used to have panic attacks accompanied by temporal lobe seizures that were triggered by small amounts of stress. Since starting HRT, I haven't had a single one, and I juggled writing an honor's thesis, applying for grad school, working 30 hours a week, and taking another class all at the same time. I pulled it off cool as a cucumber!
I've been on hormones now for seven months, barely enough for body changes, but the results on my face have been nothing short of astounding. Some things really can happen fast!
Oh yes, some things do happen fast. Six months in, my skin really started to change. The skin softens and gets clearer. My ex referred to my face appearing "glowy" and people started to notice (mind you, almost nobody knew I was on hormones until a year in). People would talk behind my back... "what happened to him? He looks... prettier."
Then comes fat redistribution, face fills out and makes a BIG difference... Then body fat starts appearing in more feminine places, sometimes very quickly if you can't control the carb cravings (sour gummy worms!)
Now I'm at the point where my arms, body and legs are very feminine... I actually have ARM FAT now, and actually have somewhat of a butt these days, things I never had before!
The calmness was great because like you I had terrible panic attacks. Not anymore. :-)
