In seeing the threads about, what makes you believe, or in other forums, what makes you happy, I realized, for myself, happiness comes from thankfulness.  Thankful that I believe in the one true God, that has never let me go.  Won't go into details, but I KNOW, that without God in my life, I would either be dead or a hopeless alcholic living under a bridge.  But, my God never let me go and He has always provided.  My life might not look like much to some, but, I am thankful that God gives me my job, clothes on my back, food on my table, my animal companions,  everything I need.  And yea, my life isn't where I would like it to be, or maybe even where it should be,...yet!  But with God in my life, I have HOPE.  And that is something I have never had before.

mowdan6,
I enjoyed your post. It is rare in this day of perverted Christianity to find those who are glad to have a God in their life that allows hardship and suffering and yet can be thankful for the little things in life. Some who scream the loudest about what devout Christians they are would probably turn away if confronted with the lives some live. Those who are maybe middle class to poor. That is if middle class still exists.

I too am glad to have the good Lord in my life. I am poor and disabled but yet rich in ways many cannot see. That which the good Lord has given me cannot be purchased with money. It was freely given to one who was not worthy. In that I am thankful and He is all to me.

Your post blessed me. It is a rare form of Christianity that so many are not thankful of nor wish to have. A form that separates the wheat from the chaff.

Hi Del.  thank you for your post also.  I look onto so many promises that God gives us....as i am sure you do.
The promise that I can do all things througth Christ who strenthens me....that He who began a good work in me, will not fail to complete it, that even with my shortcomings....He loves me and never lets me go.  For myself, that is the one thing that blows my mind.  That He never gives up on me.  No matter how many times I mess up.  What is love?  That is love!

Hey Del.  Just an addition.  I know I have mentioned this one song before.  It's a song by Matt Hammitt and Bethany Dillion Called ..In Christ Alone.  You can find it on You tube if you want to listen to it.  That song has become my mantra.  I find myself singing it as I am at work...when hardship happens....when people come against me.  I hope you will listen and enjoy the song.  Basically says....In the Love of Christ....I stand!

mowdan6,
I have that song on a cd from many moons back. It stirs my spirit whenever I listen to it. It truly is a great song and sums up the gospel.

I am thankful that in Christ Jesus are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Those things which strengthen our faith and gives us that which is needful to help us endure unto the end. That which surpasses our knowledge of things in this world and gives us a hope of better things to come when that which is corrupt shall put on incorruption and that which is temporal shall put on that which is eternal. Things that so many cannot grasp as they go about ever learning yet never coming to the knowledge of God in Christ.

My blessing cannot be counted in dollars and cents, house or car, sex or gender; but in he whom died for my sins and is the only one truly pleasing unto God Almighty. Blessed be his name and I am thankful that he would be merciful unto me who has nothing to give him but my body, soul and spirit to do with as he pleases.

Your post blessed me greatly. It is a shame that so many that claim to be Christians cannot see what it truly means to proclaim that in Christ alone we place our trust. And let his will be done.

God has helped to make me strong through the harshest situations, and always helped me to find a way out, and use my experiences as a means to help others who are struggling.  He gave me a big heart with which to love, a good mind with which to think, a loving companion with whom I can share my life, and a strong soul with two spirits, Shelbi the girl, and Sage the boy, coexisting swimmingly as one.   ;D

For these reasons I am happy that God is understanding, empathetic and strong when I am not.  Thanks for letting me share, guys.

Sage,

David trusted in the Lord with all his heart and said the Lord was his strength. The Bible does say the lord is an ever present help in times of trouble and the trials of our faith make us stronger.

The apostle Paul wrote that we are comforted with a comfort wherewith we can comfort others. I think he even wrote that his bonds and afflictions helped others speak more boldly.

Sorta goes hand in hand with what you said.

After seeing websites and visiting churches where God is great as long as they have a bigger house, newer car or fatter wallet it si a blessing to read where someone trusts in God in their hour of need and their love of the Lord is not conditional.

I wish you well in your future and all you do. (though I be nothing)

Sounds like you have found the still point in the centre of the storm. There are too many who talk the talk, but never have walked the walk.
At heart it doesn't matter whether you call yourself a Christian, Muslim, Jew or Hindu, if you have found the bedrock that will let you live the way we should all aspire to.
