testosterone, metformin?

Is there anyone that is taking testosterone and metformin?  I was on metformin prior to starting hormones.  My doctor told me to stop taking metformin, but 8 months later other things have come to light and I don't really trust her.

I have an appt with a new doctor in September and I was wondering if I should bring up the metformin thing and if it lowers testosterone levels?

I am 8 months in and my voice has not dropped because my doctor had me on a low dose for 5 months (she apparently didn't realize it until I asked and pushed the conversation).  Do I need to worry about my voice never dropping at this point?  I'm frustrated.. my name is changed, my gender marker is male and visibly I look male.  My voice is so high that I will be called sir and when I speak people drop their eyes to my chest.  Thankfully I just had surgery so they can no longer get any information from that.  I still get ma'amed on the phone and it's frustrating!

Metformin is usually the first medicine they put type 2 diabetics on, male and female.

If genetic males can take metformin, I can't see why you taking T would make any difference.

I am diabetic and take metformin and insulin, I've been diabetic for 45 years.

I am pre-T and on metformin.  I'm on it to help with PCOS, and my understanding is that it lowers the natural testosterone levels that are raised through this condition.  However it does not seem like it would change much with injected T.  It would probably be best to check it with an endocrinologist.
Oh I'm a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love

I was on it for pcos too.  I am not diabetic, but my previous doctors (both primary and gynecologist) encouraged me to take metformin.

I don't see how my insulin resistance would change with testosterone, so I think I should still be on it.  I hope my new doctor will be able to sort it out for me :).

Thanks for comments!

As far as I can tell, unfortunately, metformin does lower testosterone.  I'd ask your doctor if there's a alternative to the metformin.  Either that, or you may need to take a higher T dose.
