I put on my uniform today to see if it fit, and to see if I pass well okay in it, because I couldn't remember if I do or not.

Guess what. Didn't pass.

In just normal clothes, I pass easily 98-99%, so that's not the problem...it's just something to do with the way it's cut or something.

I don't know what to do! Even if buying in bigger sizes or something would help, its super expensive and my parents won't pay for any more.

Advice?

Where is the problem? Chest area, hips, etc? Too long/too short? You could see if you could modify it or take it to a tailor's, but if you don't have the time and money I guess all you can do is wear it as it is and roll with it.

Maybe upload a pic of you wearing it so we could help you out a little better, give you some tips and such.

There's basically no leeway in the policy at all. School shirt, plain black full-length trousers with no double seams, studded pockets or designer brands, school jumper, plain black shoes. No accessories or extreme hairstyles.

Did you have something in particular in mind?

I think a picture of you in the uniform would help so we can see where the problems you are experiencing are.

The first is of me dressed normally in clothes that I pass 98% of the time in.

The second is of me in uniform without a jumper, and the third with a jumper.

I know they're dark and its hard to see but they're the best I could do =/

That IS me binding, and they are men's trousers.

Personally I think the jumper makes me look really weirdly proportioned, but it is better with than without.

I'm out at school and going back with male name and pronouns, so yes I do want people to see me as a guy - however, if I think I look like a guy I'm happy, even if they don't. So I guess its mostly for myself.

i think both polo shirts are a little too tight on you. maybe you could tell your parents they feel constricting/it gets really hot in them/you can't move around well in them?

I put on my uniform just a second and showed my mum me wearing it - having seen she agrees that I've grown over the holidays, so hopefully she'll find some money somewhere and can take me out to the town soon enough =/

If she can't, what can I do in the meantime?

And I hate to say it but I think you might be right...

I guess all I can really do is hope for bigger shirts and try to feel badass on the inside...the necklace thing is actually a pretty good idea. Will do - if they can't see it they can't confiscate it =)

what about jackets/hoodies? is there really no way you'll be allowed to wear something on top of those shirts? i mean you might have caught a cold....or else a huge scarf?

I look at the pictures and say, "I could go either way." It's not a matter of not passing at a glance; I'd assume you were a boy between 13-15. If you're still in HS, you're definitely "acceptably androgynous" in that your youth trumps gender: boys don't look like grown men at that age anyway so voice, movement, mannerisms, and general presence will go a long way one way or the other.

Moxie is what you need at this point, not clothes.

You're a man, and f--- the haters and any who would tell you otherwise.

Put the attitude on while you're putting your uniform on. Clothes don't make you who you are, and clothes won't be what makes others respect you, confidence is.

I know confidence is tough to muster when you're having a hard time taking yourself seriously or when others get it wrong. But high school is a marathon, not a sprint. You win by outlasting those who are against you. You don't need every day to go perfectly, or every person to accept you. If you think you do, you won't make because there are some unhappy people out there who are out to rob you of the courage you're showing in being yourself. Focus on the end of the year. If you can make it there, you've beaten them.

I'm also dredding going back for a similar reason, the skirt. There's not really any advice I can give, I have no laptop until the 7th and iPods pretty poor at looking at photos with. Maybe the shoulders could do with some work but I can't see how you could adjust the clothes to fix that. From what I can see though you're passing pretty well to me. I just wanted to say you're not alone really.

And I might steal the badass necklace idea, I had one in '07 but I got it confiscated because I was really violnet back then and beat people up with it. I'll be getting a new one soon I think.

I actually think you will pass just fine! All I see is a guy there :) A bigger shirt might help if you can get one, but dont panic. What grade are you going to be in? Everything will be ok!  8)

English Year 10, which I think is equivalent to American 9th grade? People go in at age fourteen and come out at fifteen.

Went into town today and got a new set of uniform in bigger sizes - a question of close your eyes and don't look at the price - thanks for all the advice/encouragement guys and girls!
