I had some yard work to do in the front yard yesterday.  I had to first go to Home Depot to pick some things up.  So I put on some makeup, fixed my hair and put on some shorts, a casual T and sandals (none of it work attire).  My toenails and fingernails were already polished.

When I got back I changed into work clothes (it was going to be warm).  I left my makeup on.  I knew I'd sweat it off anyway.  Then I went outside, picked up a pitchfork and started turning the soil out front of the house.  There were some tree roots and some stubborn stumps that I cut out with a Sawzall with a pruning blade.  Needless to say it was back-breaking work.  And very dirty!

At one point I had to get some of the debris out of my shoes, so I sat down on the front porch steps and took my shoes off and shook out the junk.  But it seemed there was still some stuff in my socks.  So I go to remove my socks then stop thinking, "SOMEONE WILL SEE YOUR TOENAILS ARE POLISHED!"  :o  And I look up and realize what just happened.

Here I am wearing a bra top, makeup, women's shorts & shoes and that thought went through my head?

Guess I need some more de-programming.   :P

When one is not use to seeing it, it could be a shock.  I wish I could wear nail polish, but as a vet tech (even as a student) I can not wear it.  It covers the nails and hide dirt.  Dirt = germs.  Bummer.

Speaking of hiding dirt, when my oldest was about 5, he had been out playing in his bare feet.  When he came in, the bottoms of his feet were black with dirt.  I showed him and said he's tracking in dirt, figuring he would go wash them.

I got involved in some project and forgot about the feet.  After dinner I went to join him and the spouse on the couch for some tube time and as I was walking up I saw the bottoms of his feet.  They now had green magic marker AND dirt on them.

His answer to the dirty feet was to cover the dirt with green magic marker.
