So I've had 3 laser sessions so far, with a fourth session coming up in another 2 weeks.

All the hair on my upper lip is pretty much gone but... The area is still dark there? How can I still have a 5 o-clock shadow if there is no hair there? This is really tripping me out, no way ill ever be able to pass without heavy concealer if this doesn't go away.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

ByeBye

It might be some fine hair that hasn't been removed yet. There may be a lot of it, giving your lip a dark, shadowy appearance. Lots of fine hair concentrated together can still appear dark.

I look closely at it and there is no visible hairs ( it all just fell out from my last treatment)

I've heard that sometimes laser can cause your skin to tan a bit. The color change isn't permanent.

This same dark pattern has existed since before the laser hair removal too, I thought it was just cause of the facial hair.. but it still exists

maybe it could have been a natural tan area, i have seen some gg's that naturally tan on there upper lip just cuz of the angle of the sun and how their skin in that area reacts to it, i did a quick search and i guess its also possible it could be an allergic reaction to cosmetics, here's a read up on it

If you don't shave do you get hair growth?

I was quite dark on the upper lip and now my upper lip is tha same as the rest of my face (gorgeous ) but it is the only area I have to go back for more blasting about every 3 months?

Are you using moisturiser and sun block?

Three sessions on the upper lip isn't many unless you had very light growth

Hope it clears up

Right now I don't have to shave it, all the hair just fell out. The mustache area was pretty thick before, but I'm black hair n pale skin so the laser destroys it easy.

It does keep coming round a few times, because hair runs in different cycles on the face, so the laser doesn't target the follicles that happen to be dormant at that point.

I "lost" all my dark moustache, only to have some of it reappear. Patience, sigh...

Exactly as Ms Padma the Gorgeous said. You will need several sessions to go through the growth recycles. You may well be seeing follicles that have not started to produce their hair as yet, after you zap them it will take six weeks for the next buggers to grow.

One of the only useful things from my B,Sc, which I got when Einstein was a kid  , was I did a project on hair growth in rats. So I understood what the techs were saying, a little bit more than they knew in fact :embarrassed:. Hair growth is ruled by very strict hormonal cycles all over your body, and it varies in different areas of your body. Tummy hair and back hair and genital hair and facial hair all grow differently and even have different structures.

Bet you needed to know that .

Just to bring the whole conversation into the gutter ::), the woman who does my waxing was telling me how she had given herself a XXX Brazilian, as she said you practice somewhere. She said how sore she was after and  various parts of the area had been waxed in error and were suffering. So she went home and showed her boyfriend, hoping for some sympathy, of course he got so horny he wasn't that interested into the massage the cream into the sore areas for more than a few minutes before urges hit. I wasn't sure if she was sad or happy. Raises a different thread really.

Sorry for the Hijack

More fun facts: I can't remember which way round it is, but men's and women's pubic hair have different cross-sections - one's oval, one's star-shaped.

This has been a Pubic Service Announcement.

This is a really good foreplay exercise.
Do you want to see the shape of my genital hair before we me love. I think it is on Page 53 chapter 24 of the Kumar Sutra.
I have a microscope, advanced lessons.

I go to the hospital for my laser and they tell me every time to never forget sunblock. Sun light will make pigment changes on your skin several months after the laser. At least that´s what they tell me.
