I posted a link on another thread about this concerning statistics and users.
Baby Boomer generations dislike facebook on a much higher statistic than recent generations. We did a survey on this, social media and cell phones (smart phones) at our church.
It was almost straight across the board that baby boomers had a strong dislike for FB and some other social applications that is computer oriented (born in 40s and 50s)
The generation that came after them was about 50/50 (born in 60s)
My generation was mostly for FB with some who do not like it (born in 70s)
the Generations of the 80s were more accepting of facebook
The 90s and present generations had a strong liking for FB and most other social applications.
After going over the results with kids, teenagers, young adults, adults, middle age and seniors all in the same room we all came to an understanding that the evolution of social media or social contacts shifts. For example, Those born in the 40s had to plead and beg to get a TV (the ones we talked to). Their parents told them watching tv would kill their brains. Etc Etc
With each knew invention of social media you will have other generations who just wont like it. I am almost positive that 40 years from now I will see a form of social outlet that I will find hard to digest while the generation of that time i will love it.
