Was. I have moved to Google+. I don't like the idea of facebook using my personal information for their own benefit.

I have google+ too. I'm going to see if it ever picks up on popularity cuz right now it feels like a disappointment if anything.

I think google+ has about another year to figure it all out.

No, and I'm not a twit

Why do people do this thing?

It is just so boring
IMO

Cindy, walk outside and talk

As sad as it is, I would have no social circle at all if it were not for Facebook and Susan's and a couple of other sites.

My wife take a harsh attitude towards anyone who might "encourage" me so the idea of lunch with a girlfriend or some such get a lot of scrutiny and eventually used against me in the next argument.

There have been some night when the support of people who believed in me online has been literally the only thing that kept me from attempting to harm myself in the wage of one of her rages.

It's not boring to me - it's all I got.

(oh, and twitter i use basically as a news feed - I follow mostly posters connected to my favorite baseball team, and the sorts of news I'm interested in)

Disclaimer: due to serious injury, most of my posts are made via Dragon Dictation which sometimes butchers grammar and mis-hears my words. I'm also too lazy to closely proof-read which means some of my comments will seem strange.

Don't judge a book by its cover! My lifes been like a country song! True love, amazing grace, severe heartbreak, buckles, boots n spurs! I 've been thrown off the bull a couple times, I keep getting up and dusting myself off! Can't give up on my happily ever after!

Yes I'm on fb, and I also like reading books, and like spending time face-to-face with people, so it's no big deal, it's just one way to communicate. It amuses me how polarised people get about this. Just as bad as "what phone do you have?" yawn.

Well, I don't love it, I just find it useful - it's just like any other form of communication, I have to wade through a certain amount of other people's crap to get to the good stuff (and they're thinking the same about me) ;D. It keeps me easily in touch with friends on other land masses.

Oh, and that's the point for me, everyone who's one of my friends on facebook is, you know, an actual friend. One or two started out as friends of friends of mine of facebook, but have ended up friends in their own right, and we make damn sure to meet off-piste in order to see if it's real or not.

I posted a link on another thread about this concerning statistics and users.

Baby Boomer generations dislike facebook on a much higher statistic than recent generations. We did a survey on this, social media and cell phones (smart phones) at our church.

It was almost straight across the board that baby boomers had a strong dislike for FB and some other social applications that is computer oriented (born in 40s and 50s)

The generation that came after them was about 50/50 (born in 60s)

My generation was mostly for FB with some who do not like it (born in 70s)

the Generations of the 80s were more accepting of facebook

The 90s and present generations had a strong liking for FB and most other social applications.

After going over the results with kids, teenagers, young adults, adults, middle age and seniors all in the same room we all came to an understanding that the evolution of social media or social contacts shifts. For example, Those born in the 40s had to plead and beg to get a TV (the ones we talked to). Their parents told them watching tv would kill their brains. Etc Etc

With each knew invention of social media you will have other generations who just wont like it. I am almost positive that 40 years from now I will see a form of social outlet that I will find hard to digest while the generation of that time i will love it.

I prefer actual IRL socializing. Boyfriend doesn't allow me to do that though.

That's because you are a stunner to look at and he can't stand all the guys drooling over you.  ;)

Me? awwww.

But I am young and a troublemaker. I think he's keeping me out of trouble. Like when he talked me out of church last night. I really think facebook is a tool for meeting new people. I've met so many people and talked to them on the phone...

That is the main reason to social network, because it is difficult to meet people in public.

I can't believe you are a troublemaker. You look so angelic.  ;D

Looks are deceiving. Always getting into something I'm not suppose to. Hormones definitely calmed me down.

I use FB, but I'm mostly just logged in on one browser tab while I do things in other tabs.  I'm not giving my real name in this thread, but I have a few friends from Susan's so you might find me if you look for an Amy with friends in common.

I got one and I'm on it all the time. Thing is, I'm nuts and I tend to get depressed, then go on there and whine a lot. So, if you wanna be my friend and stuff you can PM me :)

Yeah, I'm only 25, but I think my main problem with facebook is my introverted nature.  It's like a lot of people really enjoy always being connected, but then there are also those of us who prefer more space and privacy.  Even having a cell phone drives me crazy sometimes because I just don't like being that easy to get a hold of.  My old one broke and it took me two months before I replaced it out of necessity.  It was a really relaxing and peaceful two months, though.   ;D
