Hi everyone.  I'm 18 years old and from the Lancaster, PA area (going to college in Huntingdon, though.)  This summer, I only just started questioning my gender identity.  Before that, I never showed any indication of being trans*.  People not too familiar with the community use this to delegitimize my identity, as well as the fact that I identify as transmasculine/non-binary transguy rather than fully FtM.  I've been trying really hard to get people to understand me and failing miserably, due to the fact that I don't really understand myself either.  It's very depressing and makes me feel so isolated, even though there are other trans* people at my school, some of whom I'm friends with.
I've joined messageboards more on the genderqueer side of things and had my posts completely ignored.  Maybe things will go better for me here.

Hi, oviabshe.
I just joined like five minutes ago, so I'm as new here as you are and I don't have much in the way of helpful information, but I hope you get something more out of this community than the other ones you've tried to join. I've been misunderstood and ignored a lot in my life in a variety of situations, so I can relate to how aggravating it is at times.

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Hi to both of you Oviabshe and  Junodog. In typical Aussie style I will shorten your names to Ovi and Juno, if you don't mind that is.

You might be new but you certainly are not alone here, there's thousands of us lurking in the background.  Confusion we can try and help dispel. There are all sorts of people here with all sorts of knowledge, and a good Wiki too, so don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think they are obvious.  Someone else is probably wondering the same thing as well.

Have fun playing in the Transgender Forest with the rest of us Unicorns.

Karen.

Hi Ovi, it's nice to meet you! We love meeting new friends here. You can be any flavor you want in life, and we have more flavors here than an ice cream shop! See you around, hugs, Tracey

Hey Ovi! Welcome, I am new too!

I think it's great that we have members of the community representing all facets of identity. No type of "trans" is more of a legitimate identity than another. All are equal!
