What is a good name for a non-binary person? I think it comes down to the meaning of the name, but any girl/boy name doesn't work.

What do you think?

Courtney? As in Courtney Cox and Courtney Walsh (the West Indies fast bowler)

Andrea and Nicola are also male or female depending on whether one is Italian or not. Iman/Eman can also be male or female depending on country of origin. There are probably many others but can't think of them right now.

Shana A

I created my name rather than using an existing name. I've always liked that it isn't gendered.

depends on the person.
Does this person likes mangos? I would like to have my children named after fruits.
I'd have Mango and Strawberry and Kiwi.

There are two names that appear both on the "approved" male and female lists of names in Iceland.

I used to keep a list of baby names. Which is odd seeing as I've never ever wanted kids. The majority of the names were unisex. I had Maddox and Rowan and Avery and Eden and Cole. Never kept track of meanings, just pretty names.

I got my name by androgynizing/masculinizing my given name. Masculine, androgynous, or feminine, all the versions mean something having to do with youth. Which turns out to have a lot to do with how I see myself.

Sevan

Like Z I made up my name (or I thought I did...seems it's actually a "real" name already) but I found a website that helped me come up with my middle name, and I think it's a pretty cool website:  http://www.cool-baby-names.com/search-unisex.php

My middle name is Marlow. :)
I'm also the spouse to the fabulous Mrs. Cynthialee.

Just avoid using Rambutan (hairy) if it's a girl!

Thanks everyone.  I love your ideas Zythyra and ZaidaZadkiel.  Creating a new name is a really good idea. Zaida the names of fruits is really nice. I like names of countries, like India and Kenya.

I prefer to steer away from names that already exist because they might fall in in the binary.  I think that coming up with a name is a good idea.  I am not sure what name I will settle on.

Thanks for your contributions.

Just found this which has a truly great selection: http://www.20000-names.com/androgynous_names_unisex_names.htm

Sevan is in there and apparently Armenian, that makes two of us with Armenian first names. :)

Yep. I Knew that Sevan is an Armanian name. :) Though my sweety and I "created it" for me. We combined the names Sara and Evan and voila! You have Sevan. It was only after I settled on that name for myself that we discovered it was already a name from Armania and is the name of the largest lake there.
I'm also the spouse to the fabulous Mrs. Cynthialee.

extending the fruit name idea...

way before the internet, people would get their names from some sort of marking thing on their family. So there's people who have names for a profession (Goldsmith, maybe even "Smith")
And in some cultures they give a "good wish" with their name, like some descriptive thing as "Strongman" or even "Luckygambler" hahaha
so yeah.
