I'm really excited. I am finally getting my letter for hormones. I had been seeing my therapist since the end of June so it seems like it took forever :). None of my family except for my wife really want to hear that news. I'm so happy though that I wanted to tell someone so I'm posting it here.

I thought in the new SOC 7 you no longer needed a letter for hormones. ???

I had read that somewhere in the past month. When I started therapy in June it seemed that you needed a therapist letter for most doctors. In any case I plan to eventually have surgery and from my understanding you still need a therapist for that so it really isn't that big of a deal for me. Plus I feel that the therapy has actually beneficial.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the process like at the therapists office?

I'm starting my therapy on monday, and I'm really anxious to get hormones. But it's not like I can walk in and demand a script? (Or can I? )

Well my first session was pretty much just getting to know each other and getting comfortable. After that the next few sessions dealt with my past up until present and why I felt I had issues with my gender. The last session or two seemed to focus on my understanding of the changes from hormones and to make sure I was ready to deal with that. I'm sure it's a little different for everyone though.

So it took about two months or so?

It took me about 4 months, but I have seen where people have gone for less time. I only meet 5 or 6 times in the last 4 months though. It just all depends on your therapist and your own situation on how long you will have to go though.

I've had my HRT letter for a while, but haven't been able to start on hormones for a lot of stupid reasons... but it was still a great, validating moment when I got the letter :)

That seems really sporadic. I thought most therapists insisted upon meeting weekly?
