Currently I plan on having SRS in about 12 months time, but things could change in the meantime. It's possible that I might not be able to for medical reasons for instance. If that was the case I would look at the possibility of Orchiectomy, but if that was contraindicated, I would just have to live with it. Lets face it, it would be better to be alive with a penis than not!
There are lots of women out there in that situation, or simply unable to afford SRS. There are also some like Mahsa, who feel they don't need it. It would certainly make the whole process cheaper and less stressful to be able to live that way. I am happy for them not having GID to that degree.
Julia Serano, who I understand is non-op, summed it up pretty well I think. She said something to the effect that," the world is just going to have to learn to cope with men with vaginas and women with penises." When we reach that stage it will be interesting to see whether the concept of 'transition' will still even have any meaning.
To me this is a feminist issue, of women being able to do whatever they want with their own body, without being judged by others.
