OK, here's the deal, I have been selected to represent us Transgendered individuals in a Panel Discussion to educate the staff in a retirement / and assisted living facility. I have experience in talking to doctors at a local college already as to who we are .

I want to show us as NORMAL , WELL ADJUSTED folks that will fit in . I'm looking for input from you folks who could be candidates for such a place to live at some time . Feel free to tell me anything that you would want in such a facility ! Ellen

all I have to say is good luck and just speak to your experience

I hope to never have to live in one of those places but if I did I would want to be treated like everyone else.  I can foresee a problem if a person was not fully transitioned.  I would guess they have female aides for females and male aides for males to help with bathing etc.  So if you were living as a woman without srs it may cause a problem.  As a mtf with male junk intact I would still want a female aide and would want to be treated like all the other women there.  It would seem abusive if they insisted on using the wrong pronouns or always grouped me in with the men instead of women(assuming they have some separate activities for each).

God forbid i ever go in one of those places..

I did buy an old farm and home that keeps me working every day as in carrying water etc..

However, if i did have to go in as a post op woman i would want privacy and there should be no need to tell anybody.

I am a vietnam era veteran and they do have homes but i am so far away from there as i am still in my 50's and my mom is 89 and lives with me in the country here so i expect to be around another 50 yrs..

Privacy would allow us our basic freedom and choice to tell
