Several girls are discussing issues of appearance in other current threads.
Here is a link to a gallery of pictures of natural female vulvas so that you can compare yourselves to born women and realise just how much diversity there is.
The site is intended as support and reassurance for born women, it's not a porn site!
There are also some very educational diagrams and articles on female anatomy, so a useful site in other ways too.

To those who understand, I extend my hand
To the doubtful I demand, take me as I am
Not under your command, I know where I stand
I won't change to fix your plan, Take me as I am (Dreamtheatre - As I Am)
I started out with nothing..... and I still have most of it left.

Revision? Not so sure it be needed, even 3 month post-op.

Thanks again,
Axélle

I had surgery with Dr. Bowers over a yr ago.  MINE is not what i thought it would look like.  Mine is FULLY functional with 7 inches of depth and HIGHLY sensitive and VERY VERY VERY VERY wet.  I FLOW like a river BUT I am not necessarily happy with the visual result.  A few and only a few men have questioned it but it is more than if my vagina was on JENNIFER ANISTON, it WOULDNT have been questioned BUT MOST men have found my over sized vagina to be a BIG turn on but they ARENT questioning THE SIZE, it is the appearance.  I DO NOT have a ridge where the lips are like vaginas I have seen AND IF u DONT seperate it, it just looks like a pink vagina but if u DO u will see just a pink strip.  One guy said to me "what is this"?   He STILL went ahead but again he was questioning ME more than my vagina.  I am EXTREMELY beautiful but TALL and since the ->-bleeped-<- population has taken off and the younger girls are starting off with hormones and plastic surgery, men have been FOOLED too many times by pre ops and they are skiddish when it comes to ANY female taller than 5ft5.  All n all my vagina has gotten me a wonderful man ( and he had NO CLUE until I told him) like most men AND the GREATEST SEX EVA IN MY LIFE.  So I will take what I have and go.  i willl NOT be a stripper by profession and since my lips are EXTREMELY big, 99% of the men just look at it as a JUICY STEAK DINNER.

ALL N ALL i am sure most surgeries are a success but u will have bad surgeries just like bad face lifts.

ALSO, my vaginal lips are no symmetric.  One is bigger than the other, slightly but again MOST men ARENT gonna notice that.

I made the mistake of going to Dr. Bowers for SRS.  Since then I have had a revision and it helps but I need another revision as Marci really screwed me up.

Oh.. almost forgot...  These kinds of galleries really depress me because no matter the diversity mine doesn't fit in or look remotely normal.  Before I had my revision though I was afraid to let people see me naked standing up, at least now I am only afraid when they can see my outer labia spread.  I wish I had gone to Thailand.

I don't want to be blunt, but a vagina is one of the few things in the universe, where is doesn't matter how it looks, it how it feels.

Any man who makes any comment is just doing that man thing, of putting everyone else down.

Really sorry if I seem to be dismissing a girly concern, girls are well known for being incredibly sensitive about their appearance, but a vagina isn't suppose to be pretty. The point of those 144 off images was to demonstrate that there is no normal.

Hum, ....
honey you may have a point here --- if you hide it in some form of eco-forest of dense hair...
Now for some reason or another the 'Islamic' clean-up notion has reached us and a LOT of young, even older females like myself like to keep things hair-free.
In this case 'form supports function' :-)
There are in deed rather pretty and alas rather not so pretty vulvas... of course as always beauty is in the eyes of the beholder :-)

Just this girls opinion,
Axélle

PS: also note the recent major rise in 'vaginal rejuvenation' offered by aesthetic surgery - so there is a sense of yummy-vulva out there - believe it or not :-)

I apologise for pestering, but there are two things that almost ever medical worker, who deals with younger people, has to deal with.

1. Boys worrying they are too small.

2. Girls worrying if it suppose to look like that.

It's a sad reality that these are two parts that few of us ever show off or spend much time checking out on others. But in both cases, it really is, what you do with it, not how it looks.

Now never forget it's perfectly normal to worry, but stop worrying. It's how it feels, not how it looks.

(Incidentally, shaving is fine, but completely unnecessary from a hygiene point of view. Normal washing is all that's needed).

I know everyone tends to relate from their own experiences.

I actually had a man tell me my vagina looked, "freakish".   And the worst part was he was right.

Problems related to SRS with Marci Bowers,

very obvious scars, like she was intentionally giving me scars.

terrible asymmetry or no symmetry.  Clitoris far to one side, I won't even mention the inner labia because there was not enough inner labia to mention and yet somehow they ended up asymmetrical anyway O_o

Clitoris touching urethra, not exactly normal, meaning no space, no skin between the urethra and the clitoris.

Outer labia heavily scarred and asymmetrical.  She sewed me up so badly that it was like buttoning up a shirt but one of the buttons in two eyelets away from the correct eyelet and instead of putting the correct button in the correct eyelet she then randomly buttoned the rest of the shirt.  The result being the left side looked okay (left outer labia) but the right outer labia sagged badly and looked like frosting melting off the side of a cake.  Very ugly and unnatural looking.

One of the worst things Marci did was remove too much tissue around the vaginal canal entrance so that I am always gaping open down there, perhaps not when I am standing but anytime you can see my inner parts the vaginal canal is gaping open and too close to my anus.

No clitoral hooding.  Very strange looking, tiny inner labia.  Clitoris touching urethra.  Terrible scars and sagging skin that was stitched together incorrectly, the skin sagged so bad it would fold over on itself and a blob of skin would hang down off my outer labia (just one of them).  Unnatural gaping open vaginal "hole", too close to anus.  Didn't remove enough erectile tissue so when aroused a remnant would rise up and bulge and then flop over to one side under the skin.

And to top it off, I was at a convention with Marci Bowers and she wanted pics of results of her work for her website but she told me (in person) she didn't want a picture of my results which was really all the confirmation I needed.

How a vagina looks may not matter to some people but it doesn't make you any less of a person if you do care how a vagina looks.  Before my revision with Chettawut my vagina didn't look like a vagina.  Now it looks like a vagina except I have essentially no inner labia, scars, gaping vaginal canal too close to anus.

And no matter how much I search the gallery of diverse vulvas, they all make mine look wrong.  The main problem was Marci gave me a vagina that looked nothing like a vagina.  I was afraid to be seen naked.  Having to hide my vagina felt worse than previously having to hide my penis.  The vagina Marci gave me "outted" me as trans.

Well hon,
your details for sure make the case that looks can, and DO matter, never mind what the theory or rational may be.
So much for a guy just wants "a hole and a cooked meal from us..." :-)

There is after all an emotional, non-rational element, yet more weighty being female - give or take some...
WE DO WANT TO LOOK PRESENTABLE AND ATTRACTIVE, it's in our DNA after all. N'est-ce pas?

As far as the details... small-ish inner lips, most ggs would LOVE them!!!, a tendency to have a more open vj-channel due to smallish inner lips also!, and a closeness to the anus i.e. a reduced perineum, are not at all that unusual in post-ops... my best guess really.
Asymmetry, so long it's not VERY pronounced also.
I'm sure that your revision did improve matters... –
Even if it was just so, we still just want a bit more - for us, for ourselves, ... some vanity DNA at work...um? :-)

After thinking about it, I now realise I was perhaps wrong to dismiss these concerns, especially in the manner I did. This thread is as much about talking about the frustrations of reality as it is about notions of accepting it.

I apologise to all who have these feelings. I really do understand.

It would be nice of you could tell the guy who makes a negative comment that he's no oil painting himself but it's too easy to say and hard to do.

I did think about deleting the comments but haven't as I feel they have been made now. So I will just say once again, sorry.

Oh heck honey,
sweet of you to say so... yet as far as I'm concerned. There was no harm done in sharing your notions about the subject I think.
As I said there is a rational side to it all, the one you addressed - and then of course there is the emotional part of it, Luv2Dance and myself touched on, the former in greater detail.
We are our worst critiques after all as well... girl DNA? Maybe.
In closing, SRS as with BA and FFS is trying to get as close as possible to the 'original' - sometimes with more, sometimes with some less success.
Acceptance of this will also play a role.

It's all good as long as we are having a conversation ^_^ !

I have wondered, with skin grafts and all... Would it be possible to have the inner labia skin (from a woman who had the cosmetic labia procedure) attached as a donor skin graft?
  •

AbraCadabra

Luv2Dance,
that... would be first, I'm sure :-)

BUT... when I was in Phuket (PIH) one of the women there at the time had an issue with one labia minora's blood supply, and it needed to be 'revised' i.e. replaced.
If I recall it correctly, Dr. Sanguan takes a skin graft from one's thigh (quite a regular procedure) to do just that.

You might want to forward him some pics and ask the question?

Your absolutely right Spacial, infact most men don't care what it looks like, how it feels and how it satisfies their need seems to matter most to them.

Any man who makes a negative comment about my vagina, well just simply ask, ''how do you best please a girl'' I tell you they soon got silent, men don't like to be questioned on their ability on how to please a woman.

My ex boyfriend impregnated one of those.....twice.

when I get my vagina, I want the uterus to go with it. But oh well, I am fabulous and that's all that matters.
