I advise all these adults to immediately contact each credit bureau: Trans Union, Equifax and Experian - contact them in three ways: send a certified letter; do online complaint & print copies; & contact them by telephone. Detail & date each contact, keep copies of all correspondence.
In those letters, online & telephone complaints...state past history is due to identity theft & you want a copy of your file including sources of credit with addresses & telephone numbers.
Contact each vendor by telephone, by certified letter stating you want a complete copy of their documentation for fraud investigation. Get original signatures, ask for copies of the original credit report - should have shown date of issue on the social security number and a DOB on it...
If you can't afford an attorney contact Legal Aid in your area - they can help you.
Contact the Social Security Administration for a hearing show your documentation, request a new ss# & clean history.
